Did you know that our wonderful Dr Dhash volunteers with the amazing team at Magnetic Island Network for Turtles? Dhash was on Magnetic Island this morning for sea turtle Joni's release following 16 weeks in care, & a whole village of wonderful people working toward this day.

We are so lucky to have you, Dr Dhash. You are pure sunshine, & we are grateful every single day for your compassion, skill & authenticity 🥰🐢

❕Public Service Announcement : Pallarenda Beach ❕

Our emergency team has recently treated three dogs who sadly passed away due to acute liver and kidney failure. Each of these pets have visited Pallarenda Dog Beach shortly before becoming unwell and were seen playing with or chewing on fallen coconuts.

While the exact cause is still under investigation, we want to make local pet owners aware as a precaution.

👉 If you're visiting Pallarenda Beach with your dog, we recommend avoiding contact with fallen coconuts or any unknown vegetation.

👉 If your pet shows signs like vomiting, lethargy, or changes in appetite after a beach trip, please seek veterinary care promptly.

Hi, I’m Dr Ben Leyden, the owner and principal Veterinarian at Sunset Pets, a new in-home euthanasia business serving Townsville and surrounds.

I moved back to North Queensland to study veterinary science at JCU as a mature student, and have worked across general practice, emergency and critical care as both a Veterinary Nurse and Veterinarian. I have come to find euthanasia uniquely rewarding, and feel it is a great privilege to create a space for a peaceful goodbye. Our mission is to create a service that is compassionate, affordable, and accessible 24/7.
