Today we were working on some boundary training with this boy, and as you can see from the first photo, it was going really well.

Maybe a little too well, because I got a bit cocky and thought, “Look at him, he’s doing great — I don’t need to tie him up.”

Well
whoopsie đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž The next minute, he decided to take himself for a little run down the road, which explains the lead in the photos afterwards!

Mistakes happen, even during training, but the important thing is that we learn from them. We worked out why he ran off and he had a great time doing it ,so now we know exactly what we need to work on next.
Was I disappointed at myself , off course I was.
Will I cry my self to sleep tonight , no I won’t.
Sometimes, a mistake is what helps us learn, adjust, move forward and grow.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Hope you’ve all had a great day with your kids 😊

What a great few weeks of training it’s been. Thank you so much to everyone for your continued support. It’s been brilliant meeting so many families and working with such lovely people who genuinely care about their dogs 😊

If you’re struggling to control your dog, or you simply want more from them — better social skills, improved listening, more confidence in public, or just to stop them making you look like a fool every time you go out — reach out to me or another trainer in Townsville.

Getting help from someone who works with dogs every day can make a huge difference. A good trainer will help you reshape unwanted behaviours and improve communication between you and your dog.

But there’s one thing I always want people to understand: if you have a difficult dog, or you want your dog to behave better in public and different environments, training doesn’t end when the lesson does.

Once you’ve been shown what to do, you have to put the work in yourself. Otherwise, you’re wasting both your time and your money.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to take hours every day. Put in a little consistent effort, follow through with what you’ve been taught, and you’ll start to see the benefits.

Your dog can improve — but you have to be part of the process too 🐕

Great morning of training with a great class 😊

We worked on recall, group neutrality and plenty more. It was also so good seeing the little Kelpie puppy again and seeing how well she’s doing đŸ¶đŸ’Ș

Great dogs, great people😊

"A few different situations today

A new training journey started for two boys who are having a few issues with social neutrality and listening around distractions.

The walk with the Staffy was challenging today — there’s still work to do with getting too emotional around barking dogs behind fences, but that’s all part of the process.

And we finished with the beautiful puppy and her big sister, who are doing soooo well 😊

It’s true what they say: when you do what you love, you don’t work a day in your life.

One thing I heard on a great podcast today really stuck with me: “learn to be the most interesting thing in your dog’s environment"

Today we worked out in public again, focusing on duration stays, sits while moving, calm car entries and exits, and becoming more comfortable around people and distractions.

The goal is for her to remain focused on her handler and the task at hand, rather than feeling the need to touch, watch, or engage with everyone around her.

She is becoming extremely good at this, and I’m very happy with her progress.

And meeting the cat đŸ€Ł
