A Rough Collie named Bella was known in her neighborhood for one thingโ€”she always waited by the front gate.

Every evening, she would sit in the same spot, eyes fixed on the road, ears gently moving with every passing sound. She used to run happily to greet her owner the moment he returned home.

But one day, he stopped coming back.

No one explained it to Bella. She just waitedโ€ฆ like she always did.

Days turned into months. Seasons changed. Rain, sun, and cold nights came and went, but Bella never changed her routine. The gate was still her place of hope.

Neighbors often tried to bring her inside, but she would always return to that same spot, as if she believed that if she waited long enough, things would go back to how they were.

She wasnโ€™t lost.

She was loyal.

I thought I was bringing home a Rough Collie.
Turns out, I adopted a sentient marshmallow with a Napoleon complex and the ego of a French monarch.
๐Ÿšฝ Bathroom? There. Staring into my soul like sheโ€™s the lifeguard of the porcelain throne.
๐Ÿณ Kitchen? Weaving through my legs like a high-stakes obstacle course while I try to hold a knife.
๐Ÿšช Taking out the trash? She watches from the window like Iโ€™m moving to another country and sheโ€™s the tragic widow waiting for my return.
She doesnโ€™t sit.
She poses โ€” head tilted, front paws tucked, looking like sheโ€™s on the cover of a luxury dog shampoo bottle.
โœจ High-pitched huffs if Iโ€™m on my phone for five seconds.
๐Ÿฅฃ Once refused to eat dinner because her bowl was "too close" to the dishwasher.
And the Rough Blitz?
Lord have mercy.

One burst of energy and sheโ€™s a white blur bouncing off the sofa like a caffeinated cotton ball.
Sheโ€™s:
Left tiny nose prints on every mirror in the house
Learned how to "dance" for treats like a circus professional
Once stole a hair tie, buried it in the laundry, and looked at me with the innocent eyes of an angel who has never sinned ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ’Ž
Iโ€™ve bought every so-called โ€œindestructibleโ€ toy.
She shredded them all until my living room looked like a snowstorm.
Then โ€” someone mentioned the magical, mythical no-stuffing octopus toy from https://americanapicks.com/products/octopus-toy
I caved.
Sheโ€™s been carrying it around like itโ€™s her emotional support squid ever since.
๐Ÿ™ Tosses it. Rolls on it.
Sometimes just gently rests her chin on it like theyโ€™ve survived the grooming salon together.
Itโ€™s still intact.
Which is more than I can say for:
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ my slippers
๐Ÿงถ my favorite rug
๐Ÿง  and my remaining sanity
