**Expressions of Interest - Xena & (Miss) Devon Rex**
Back around Christmas 2023, Mistletoe was found drenched from the rain on the Hume Highway as a pathetic little kitten with a devolving injury to her lower lip. Temporarily dubbed “Lip Kitten,” then Mistletoe, and now known as Xena - a name that finally suits her personality - she has grown into a big, solid girl with the gentlest nature. Especially when you see her next to her tiny Devon Rex foster sister!
Xena is a big girl with a gentle nature who loves other cats and has an affinity for dogs. She is still very much a kitten at heart - she loves to climb, play, and spend her days seeking interaction with her person. She’s quiet and reserved with strangers, but with the people she knows.. be prepared to be stuck on the couch for a while, because once she’s on your lap, she overflows and you’re not going anywhere.
Then we have a little miss, who is a Devon Rex. She is an independent girly who, just like Xena, loves other cats and dogs. She is incredibly tolerant - even when play gets a bit rough - and is very submissive and gentle. A very clean girl with a really cool coat, and surprisingly heavy for such a small cat! She can be talkative around dinnertime and when you come home in the afternoons. She’s more confident in her independence than Xena (who would rather be near you than on the chair opposite) and would be okay in a home where someone works during the day - but the moment you sit down, she will be on your lap. She is a little heater and is always warm, despite the lack of coat.
Both girls would do best in homes with another animal and without young children, where the routine is predictable. When you get home, they know the schedule - there will be meows, and if it’s dark, they will lead you straight to the bedroom because the best place is on your lap in bed! The click of the electric blanket on cooler days sends both girls running to bed where they stay put for the night.
Both girls love their food and treats. Wand toys, pieces of string, and interactive toys where you're directly engaged are Xena's favorites. As for the Devon Rex, she likes her scratching posts and has a great time playing independently or chasing after something that you've thrown - she'll swat it around and can entertain herself. They both love the (extra, super duper) cat-proofed balcony and need indoor only homes with a cheeky Devon Rex needing cat savvy parents as someone is a little too interested!
Xena: Fully vetted; desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, on regular parasite prevention. Currently insured (can be transferred to new owner). No pre-existing conditions. Devon Rex: Initial vet work completed; desexing booked soon. Microchipped, vaccinated. Currently insured (can be transferred). No pre-existing conditions. Purebred Devon Rex (no papers). She is just nearly a year old.
Microchip numbers will be added once PetRegistry login is behaving.
As per usual, we are looking for the right homes, not the first ones. These girls are very loved and their homes will be chosen carefully.
If you're interested, please send a message with a bit about your home, other pets, work schedule, and what you’re looking for in a cat. Both girls are available for adoption together or apart.
