Here are 2 of our stunning tortoiseshell kittens. Personally, I think the tortie reputation for being spicy is a little unfair. I'd prefer to say they just know what they want! 😺😁

🐾Scarlett is 5 months old. She was rescued with her siblings from a factory site. Scarlett was very timid and scared, but now she's the party girl everyone invites over. With her droopy eyelids, she has won everyone over with those puppy-dog eyes 😻

🐾Hope is 11 months old. She had a stroke from a head trauma soon after being born at our shelter. With her will to live, plus our founder, Bernard's, quick action, she has not only survived, but has fully recovered. Looking at her, you'd never know what she went through. Hope is past the naughty stage and has grown into a loving girl. 😻

Meet Marshall.
Found all alone on a street with no mum or siblings in sight, weighing just 380g. This little boy is a true fighter. He was fostered for 2 weeks by one of our volunteers before being brought to the shelter where he has continued to grow and thrive.

We've discovered that whatever he experienced before being found has not affected his trust in humans. He is extremely playful and funny, and loves playing with toys (and hands!).

Marshall is also very sweet-natured and adorable. While he has been surrounded by other cats and kittens, he hasn’t socialised with them yet. But we believe he would be just fine with a playmate around the same age.

Marshall will be desexed and microchipped next week, and we are looking for expressions of interest from potential adopters.

A couple of weeks ago, we put out a call for donations towards our move to a new shelter. And we are absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone who has donated so far. We can't thank you enough 🙏

Meet Portia.
This gorgeous girl was rescued from the streets and brought to our shelter when she was 12 months old.

Since then, Portia has really come out of her shell. While it can take a bit of time to earn her trust, it’s worth the wait.

Portia will let you know exactly how and where she wants to be petted, like turning her head so her ear touches your hand. She has a spunky personality and loves to play.

She gets on well with other cats who aren’t too dominant. If a cat is feisty, it can scare her and she gets skittish. She is very smoochy with both gentle cats and people.
Portia is an indoor-only cat and would suit any household that is not too loud or rowdy.

She's been waiting a long time for her forever home, and we want to be able to give her that now. If you have space in your heart and home for Portia, please get in touch via our adoption application form to meet her.

🐾Save a Pet Foundation currently cares for around 50 cats and rehomes 80+ every year — from rescued, dumped and surrendered cats, they all deserve a second chance.

😺We've outgrown our current residential setup, and council regulations mean it's time to find a proper home. So we're moving into a dedicated shelter facility in Kings Park, which will be a game changer for helping vulnerable cats and our community.

🐾The new shelter means we can nearly double our impact: 150+ cats rehomed each year, a purpose-built space designed around the cats' welfare, a cat cafe where the community can meet adoptable cats, volunteer and student training opportunities, and even free Justice of the Peace services for locals. ‍

😺We've set up a Go-Fund Me page to raise urgently needed funds for the new facility. Every dollar goes toward the fit-out, rent, and getting our doors open.

3 healthy-looking kittens, dumped at our shelter. In the cold. Well, 12 degrees is cold, especially for these babies.

We have the guy on CCTV. Thankfully someone arrived just after and saw the kittens at the front door. Otherwise they would have been outside all night, because the guy didn't bother ringing the doorbell.

It's easy to jump to conclusion, but we don't know why he left them with us. But better with us than out on the streets.

We are already at full capacity, but what else can we do? We've now made sure they are safe, warm and fed.

They will need vet work and checks soon, adding to our already stretched medical bills.

Meet Sally.

She was surrendered to a vet at 8 weeks of age, who passed her onto SAPF. She was very scared initially and hid under furniture for the first couple of months.

But now, with patience and time, Sally is more confident around people and actively asks for pats from those she knows.
Sally can be a bit shy with strangers, but given time, you’ll see her confidence growing when she gets used to you. And then it’s game on trying to get your attention for some head and back scratches!

Sally is a super sweet, affectionate little girl. She gets on well with other kittens around the same age. She doesn’t do well with dominant cats.

She does have a quirk, which we think is adorable. Her left front paw doesn’t have defined toes. Does this worry her? No. Should it worry you? Absolutely not. It doesn’t stop her doing what cats do best - living a full life.

Sally is an indoor-only cat and would suit any household with children from primary school age.

From frightened to relaxed to adopted.

This is another success story we had to share.

Odin came to us with his mum and two siblings. They appeared one night near a colony clearly dumped on the side of the road. The mum was too friendly to be a stray.
Can you imagine how scared and confused they were?

Spotted by a colony feeder, this amazing lady was able to trap them and foster until we had space to take them in.

With patience and socialisation, Odin became friends with many of the other cats, and was doted on by the volunteers. He’s now a big cuddle bug 😻 and no longer a frightened kitten.

Odin was the last of the three kittens to be adopted and we’re so happy he got his forever home.

The past year has been tough for our small shelter.

😺We’ve had quite a few pregnant cats, as well as new mamas with their babies, rescued from backyards, factory sites and other places where they were not safe.

😺We’ve also taken in cats with medical issues. Some were obvious when they arrives, and others only became known later. A few needed emergency vet care after hours, which costs more, but waiting until the next day just wasn’t an option.
Vet consults, medication, treatments, desexing, microchipping, emergency care all adds up.

😺Some of the vet fees we’ve paid this year include:
• A new mama who ended up with mastitis and almost died
• A few rescues who arrived with mouth issues
• A boy who came in with an open wound on his leg, needing ongoing treatment
• Ongoing medical care for cats with gum and teeth issues
• Treatment for a kitten who suffered a stroke.
• Treatment for a kitten born with a nasal deformity.
• Desexing and microchipping for over 70 cats.

😺On top of the vet bills, we also need to feed and care for 50+ cats and kittens 7 days a week. It doesn’t stop. In a typical week, we go through around:
• 20 kgs of dried food
• 15-20 tins of wet food (including Mom & Baby Cat for kittens)
• 6 roast chickens for the cats who are unwell or need encouragement to eat
• 5 cartons of kitten milk

😺Our small team of hard-working volunteers are there 7 days a week, making sure all cats have fresh water, plenty of dried food, wet food morning and night, clean litter trays twice a day, warmth and care.

😺The work doesn’t stop, and neither do the costs of feeding, heating and caring for the rescued cats and kittens 24/7.

😺Today is the last day of the financial year 2026. We would be so grateful for any donation to help us continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats and kittens.
