Alright Legends - I'm gonna need your help.
No doubt you saw what happened over the last couple of weeks with badly injured Kangaroos - Two in one week! Normally I would have gone to the farm to collect a firearm and co-ordinated with the Police about discharging it for injured wildlife control. However that's not always possible, and in some of those locations they're within residential areas, or near like I was near the gasplant. I had to use blunt force trauma in both situations which can be quite brutal, not very discreet, and you have to really know what you're doing to make sure you're not causing more pain and suffering. Not to mention the personal toll it takes having to bop these beautiful critters on the head. It does affect your mental health, even though you know you're doing the right thing.

A lot of you reached out to me and said I needed to get myself a captive bolt tool. And I have wanted to get one for a while, it's the cost that I've not been able to justify.
So I need your help. I've found the type I want, from an Australian supplier. It's not cheap, but this is the right style and type for me and the various situations I find myself in where I need this kind of tool. It's also something that Amber will be able to use if she has to despatch an animal to end its suffering and I'm not around.

So I've got a special fundraising link especially for this device - the link is in my bio and I'll pop it in the comments too. You'll find it in our link library which is in the bio of all my social media pages.

Throwback to October 2023 Legends, when the flood waters were displacing people and animals. I got a call about a wombat that had turned up in someone's yard.
It seemed pretty clear that the poor wombo's home had been flooded, and he went to seek higher ground.
Luckily this human was OK to share his yard with a wombat refugee.
I treated the wombat for mange, and gave him a few handfuls of food and left him a few carrots.
Sometimes a rescue is really just checking and making sure everyone is OK.
I look forward to when human and wildlife live and share spaces together, instead of the animals constantly being forced into smaller and smaller areas, which causes territorial disputes, lack of resources, and ultimately the end of life.

Will there ever be enough Destructo-Derek to satisfy the demand?

So, I read about a research project that had been running for 64 years studying Marmots that recently had its funding cut, so they turned to Only Fan's and started 'OnlyMarms' and I thought that was awesome!
So here with part 2 of 'Only Wombats' - the uncensored true life experience of caring for and rearing orphaned and injured wombats until they're ready to go back in the bush!
Stay tuned for more mischief and crazy business

Legends!
Chelsea the Wallaby escaped!
Two nights in a row she'd gotten out, the first time I saw her moments before we were on Sunrise morning TV, and the second time was the following night. I thought to myself, surely we didn't forget to close her pen twice! After the first time I made sure to double-triple check everything.
Sure enough the second morning, the pen door was closed, and there was no wallaby!
Needless to say both Amber and myself were very worried as to where Chelsea had gotten to and if she was still around.

Thankfully we've been slowly putting camera's up around the farm for exactly this kind of moment.
We managed to see her on one of the cameras a couple of times and then - ZOOM! she bounced off like a flash.
later that evening on dusk we started to walk around the property, hoping she would come out.
It wasn't until we were back around the front of the property that I noticed something hiding between the trees. I had my Pulsar Wildlife Lumion thermal monocular and gee's did it make all the difference to our finding Chelsea.
Amber the kangaroo whisperer managed to get close enough to coax her into the property and amazingly, she came right up to Amber and hopped into the pouch she was carrying.

We were lucky and so grateful nothing happened to Chelsea. She's not quite big enough to be out on her own, but soon she'll be big enough to be up with the other Kangaroos in the big pen!
