With birds flu spreading it is important to know what precautions to take.

If in doubt check with you health care professional (canine).

Club sponsors Adelaide Veterinary Walk In Clinic and Harbourside Vet Care

There are simple steps you can take to help keep your pets safe from H5 bird flu.

* Prevent cats from roaming by keeping them indoors or using a secure outdoor enclosure – this also protects our wildlife

* Keep dogs on leads in public areas, especially when wildlife is present

* Prevent your dog from scavenging or touching dead birds and wildlife

* Clean shoes thoroughly after walking your dog in a wildlife area

* Ensure food and water is out of reach of wild birds

* Always provide access to fresh and clean water

* Don't allow pets to use water bowls that may also be accessed by birds

Taking these precautions can significantly reduce the risk to your cats and dogs. More information about symptoms of H5 bird flu in animals, and tips for protecting birds and other pets is available online at: https://www.birdflu.sa.gov.au/pets

If you see sick or dead birds or other wildlife, do not touch them. Avoid contact. Record what you see. Report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Last Sunday our Future Champs Class 4 had an intro to Hoopers Dog Sports, which is a low impact sport where dogs follow cues at a distance working their way through a flowing course made from barrels, large hoops and straight tunnels. This sport is great for dogs and hooooomans alike who need something more gentle than traditional agility sports. Much fun was had by all 😍😍😍
