We had a visit from a very teeny tiny pint sized 'Little Connolly' recently, he may have been petite, but his personality was far from it! Our smallest and perhaps sweetest patient yet 😆💕

🚗 Car Safety for Pets

Unrestrained pets in cars can become distracted, frightened, or injured during sudden stops.

💡 Safer travel options include:
✔️ Crash-tested harnesses
✔️ Secure carriers
✔️ Dog seatbelt attachments
✔️ Non-slip bedding for carriers

🐾 Keeping pets safely restrained protects both them and you while driving.

Never leave pets unattended in vehicles, even during cooler weather.

🦴 Puppy Teething Tips

Puppy teeth may be tiny, but teething can still be uncomfortable!

🦷 Common signs include:
• Increased chewing
• Mouthiness
• Drooling
• Red gums
• Missing baby teeth around the house

Helpful teething options:
🧸 Puppy-safe chew toys
🧊 Chilled toys or wet washers
🐶 Redirecting chewing onto appropriate items

⚠️ Avoid very hard chews that may damage growing teeth.

Bird Flu (H5N1 strain) has been detected in WA.

Whilst highly contagious between birds, the risk to humans and mammals remains low - as seen in other countries who have been living with this disease for months to years.

However, to minimise transmission and risk, the following guidelines have been published by the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA):

* DO NOT HANDLE any sick or dead wild birds, and instead call the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

* DO NOT bring any sick or injured birds (wildlife or pet birds) to the clinic. Instead please call us on 9562 5924 so we can appropriately advise you.

As the situation develops we will be posting updates to keep everyone informed.

🐱 Senior Cats Hide Pain Extremely Well

Many owners think their older cat is “just slowing down,” but changes in behaviour can sometimes indicate pain or illness.

🚩 Signs to watch for:
• Sleeping more
• Hesitating to jump
• Grooming less
• Weight loss
• Changes in litter tray habits
• Becoming withdrawn

Cats are experts at masking discomfort, which is why regular vet checks become even more important as they age 💚
