Welcome to the world, little man 🤎🐴

Lainey and Anzac’s precious c**t made his arrival at approximately 9:15am this morning—right on his due date, 10 September 2026. Mum and bub are both doing wonderfully, and Lainey has already shown what an incredible mum she is.

This beautiful boy is more special than words could ever explain. After losing Anzac, my heart was completely broken—but today, Lainey gave us the most precious gift: a beautiful little piece of him to love, cherish and watch grow.

I know Anzac would be watching over them both and feeling incredibly proud. His legacy will live on through his gorgeous son. 🪽🤎

⚠️ Colic Awareness ⚠️
After recently losing my beautiful brumby stallion Anzac to severe colic, I wanted to make a post to help spread awareness. Colic can happen suddenly and can turn critical very quickly. Even experienced horse owners can miss the early signs because every horse shows pain differently.

Please trust your gut if your horse seems “off.”
🚨 Signs of colic can include:
• Pawing the ground
• Rolling or trying to roll
• Looking at their belly/flanks
• Not eating or drinking
• Sweating
• Restlessness
• Laying down more than usual
• Reduced or no manure output
• Elevated heart rate
• Depression or unusual behaviour
🩺 Steps to help reduce the risk of colic:
• Ensure constant access to clean fresh water
• Feed consistent diets and avoid sudden feed changes
• Introduce new feeds slowly
• Maintain regular worming and dental care
• Provide daily movement/exercise
• Avoid overfeeding grain
• Feed plenty of roughage/fibre
• Monitor horses closely during weather changes
• Reduce stress where possible
• Know your horse’s normal behaviour and routine

📞 If you suspect colic:
• Call your vet immediately
• Remove feed unless advised otherwise
• Walk your horse calmly if safe to do so
• Monitor manure, water intake, and behaviour
• Do not delay getting professional advice

After 12 months' work, Port Broughton artist Wayne Dennis unveiled his new 'war horse' sculpture this ANZAC Day.

Best known for his Loch Ness Monster-inspired sculpture at Lochiel, Mr Dennis' newest creation on the town foreshore honours animals lost in conflict.

Of about 120,000 Australian horses sent overseas in World War I, just one was returned home, according to the Australian War Memorial.

"A lot of the soldiers were bonded with their horses, and the saddest part is that a lot of them had to shoot their horses," Mr Dennis said.

"A few of them got sold over there, but as far as soldiers bringing them back, that didn't really happen."

It will be on display over the weekend before being safely placed in storage until the local council can find a permanent spot for it.

I’m beyond proud of my big boy this afternoon with allowing Joe to handle him to do his teeth. 💙 Thankyou so much for your time and patience with Anzac Joe!

We also found out Anzacs age being 5 year old

All the groundwork I did with him is finally working off 🙌🏼🥰

Anzac’s showing so much bravery by allowing me to touch his sides and front legs out in the open area, which is a big step forward compared to where we started in the smaller yard behind panels. 💙

It is a really satisfying place to be when people who’ve seen Anzac before come back and immediately notice a difference.

With a wild horse like Anzac, that kind of progress says a lot about my approach. I’m not just getting compliance in the moment—I am building understanding, trust, and a calmer mindset in him. Horses don’t fake that kind of change, especially ones with a strong or independent background.

He still shows signs of being unsure but it’s completely normal at this stage, It usually means he’s caught between his old instincts and this new experience with me. He’s thinking, “I want to trust this… but I’m not 100% convinced yet.” That’s actually a really honest, healthy place for him to be.

What matters is:
- He’s trying instead of resisting
- He’s starting to let his guard down, even if only briefly
- He’s processing rather than reacting

Yesterday’s session, bute was given due to some swelling on his back leg from some cuts from possibly when he rolled near the panels. He’s taken it all in really well, he wants this connection but still learning about trusting a human.
