💣 Truth bomb time 💣

I had a conversation the other day with a wonderful breeder friend of mine. We were getting into the fact that I have had a few dogs returned to us over the years and I felt like I was failing as a breeder.

She said you're not failing, and not exactly in these words said your social media is a highlight reel and it looks like all your dogs and puppies are perfect. This may set an unrealistic expectation for new families.

Let me tell you that the well behaved labradoodle you meet in the street or see on our Instagram...wasn't just born that way. Behind that well behaved dog is a person/family and breeder that raised that dog to be that way.

Yes there are calmer puppies and more outgoing puppies in litters...but even the 'calm' ones need that reinforcement of being calm.

Puppies aren't born with off switches, this is learnt over time and that switch gets stronger over time.

ALL PUPPIES NIP/BITE/CHASE it is completely normal and doesn't mean they're aggressive.

Pups are generally more bitey if they're unfulfilled, tired, hungry, frustrated etc.

Labradoodles are human focused and make great pets, but there is a lot to go through before you get that calm companion that will snuggle up to you on the couch every night. You give a labradoodle an inch and they will take a mile!

Miss Olive 🫒

Look at those eyes 👀

The eyes are the first thing that drew me to the labradoodle, the softness and beautiful eye contact.

We hope Olive will have some beautiful babies some day that will have her beautiful eyes 💕

The tall and the short of it! Can you believe that there's only 6kgs (and 10years) that separates them?! Bailey with those long legs 😍

It's been so nice having Bailey back, as hard as it is having a dog returned, he's slotted back in like he never left 💕

It feels a bit of a taboo topic - having a dog returned - we pride ourselves on matching the right puppy with the right home and whilst we will still stand by this, we do not have a crystal ball and we cannot see what the future holds for the families our puppies go into.

All we know is that we stand by our word and will be there for our families and our dogs and will always support with no judgement.

💕 N A N O O K 💕

Silverleaves Nanook

Have you seen a cuter little black polar bear?!

Nanook is equal parts stupidly sweet, chill and smart oh and let's not forget snuggly.

We have adored having her here so much that we have kind of forgotten to find her a home 🤣

Nanooks destiny is to hopefully be part of our breeding program and produce the next generation of Silverleaves labradoodles. She will be fully health tested at 12m then given some time to mature before she raises babies of her own.

Hills I am dying on today....

- You don't need another chew toy/licky mat/sniff walk/enrichment something for your puppy....your puppy needs you to play with it and sleep!

- crate training is a MUST for a well rested and calm puppy.... too much freedom = overstimulation = crazy puppy and an even crazier teen dog.

- ill fitting harnesses that don't allow full shoulder reach should be banned.

I have so many more but these are things as a breeder/owner that irk me at this moment 🤣

Meet Bailey — an 8-month-old Labradoodle looking for his forever family.

Bailey was bred by us here at Silverleaves Labradoodles, and due to a change in his family circumstances, we're now looking for the right home to take him on.

Bailey is a bright, affectionate boy who already knows his basic cues — but he's a higher-energy dog who needs consistency, clear rules and boundaries, and a family ready to keep building on that foundation. He thrives with structure and does best with people who have the time, patience and commitment to stay on top of his training. A family with no kids or older kids is preferable.

As part of the rehoming process, we require his new family to commit to 4 weeks of training with our trainer, our trainer's location is in Melbourne Docklands so please keep this in mind when applying. (At our cost)

Bailey is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped, and ready to go to a loving, active home. A rehoming fee applies.

Little Nanook is such a sweet pup 💕

We've had quite a few applications to be her guardian family, and I'm so sorry we haven't been in touch. We've been really busy around here...with Cosmo back for 2 weeks and raising Nanook there hasn't been much time 🫣

My goal is to reply this week 🫣

💫 Cosmo 💫

Not gonna lie, we didn't really need another dog in our house right now....but what's one more?! And it's only for two weeks.

Cosmo's personality is larger than life, she's getting used to the routine here at hotel labradoodle. I look forward to getting to know our girl 💕
