Bailey Update

For those of you that remember, 10 month old Bailey came back into our lives after his previous family could no longer care for him.

Whilst it doesn't happen all to often it's always sad and hard when dogs come back to us. We feel like we've failed them...when in reality things happen that we cannot foresee and we will always take our dogs back without question. We bought them into the world and have a responsibility to them for life.

Anyways I digress from the planned update 🤣🤣

Bailey is living the life of luxury by the beach with his new family, he's got another labradoodle sister and a teenage human brother and is thoroughly spoilt rotten as he should !

He's settled in better than we could have ever hoped and I get the most wonderful updates from his family thanking us for allowing them to be his family and commenting how he was always meant to be theirs he just took his time getting there.

Every dog deserves their happily ever after and I'm confident that Bailey has found his.

Silverleaves the Last Dance

Another breeding hopeful for us at Silverleaves, Cosmo is a guardian dog, lives with her mum Jess and is a whole lot of fun!

We will health test Cosmo at 12 months old. If she passes we'll give her time to mature and then she will hopefully have puppies of her own in 2028.

I cannot keep her, I cannot keep her, I cannot keep her 🫣🫣🫣

Nanook needs a home, the longer we keep her the harder it is to let her go! But it's so hard to let her go because she's an amazing puppy and we are very much attached 🥹

At 4.5mo she is ✔️Crate trained, ✔️toilet trained, ✔️completed our trainers puppy program, ✔️snuggly ✔️sassy✔️sweet

We are looking for a home that will support our mission for bringing joy one labradoodle at a time.

🪽🪽 🌈We are devastated that our darling Kobe (Flynn) never got to see his second birthday, he sadly passed away a few months ago after a short illness, gone but never forgotten. I hope wherever you are kid that there are plenty of socks for you to steal 🧦

Have you ever thought about being a guardian? 🤔

We are always looking for special families who will support our mission to bring joy to families one labradoodle at a time 😁

✨ What a Guardian does:

As a Guardian family, you provide the loving, permanent home, while Silverleaves retains breeding rights for an agreed period to help preserve and improve our lines.

Your girl lives with you as your much-loved pet, and visits us for health testing and planned matings. When she is due to have a litter, she will return to us around a week before her due date, then stay for approximately 6–7 weeks after the pups are born, depending on what is best for mum and her babies.

Outside these times, she is at home with you, enjoying normal family life, training, outings and cuddles.

✨ Benefits of our program:

Guardian dogs are always “pick of the litter”, carefully chosen for outstanding temperament, health and structure, and all breeding-related health testing is covered by us.

The guardian fee is lower than our pet price, and once her breeding career is complete, we arrange desexing at our expense and she remains with you for life.

✨ Guardian family requirements:

Live within approximately one hour of Pakenham, Gisborne or Pascoe Vale South.

Provide a safe, secure home with ongoing positive training, socialisation and good manners.

Ideally have no young children; homes with no kids or children 12+ are preferred so she can settle calmly and you can focus on her training.

Other pets may be ok depending on the temperament.

Notes from Bailey's family...🥹

"Just finished Bailey's morning walk and want to tell you how much we love him. He's actually turned into my husbands dog and last night as they were cuddling he said 'I can't believe someone gave him up'. Bailey is a really good boy. Yes, he has high energy, but he's super sweet, cuddly and well mannered. He was always meant to be ours ❤️"

I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to wake up to this message this morning.

Those that know us, know that the health and wellbeing of our dogs is paramount, and when one comes back it's a really hard pill to swallow. But we will always take back our dogs, no questions asked. We understand that lives change and people get unwell and are unable to care for their animals so we will always be here.

The next step is often a leap of faith, you never want your pups to be returned again and it's always in the back of your mind.

In this case I think Bailey is pretty set and is going to have a great life 💕

"Why can’t I choose my own puppy?” 🤔

You can.

If choosing a puppy based on appearance is the most important part of your decision, there are breeders who will allow you to select your puppy by colour, coat or markings.

But at Silverleaves Labradoodles, we believe choosing a puppy is about so much more than looks. Puppies aren't a blank slate and there are a variety of temperaments within each litter.

Our priority is to place each puppy in the home where their individual temperament, energy level and natural personality are most likely to thrive. Your lifestyle, experience, family dynamic and expectations all matter when we make those recommendations.

Our puppy observations and assessments are a snapshot of that puppy at a particular moment in time. They are not a fail safe guarantee of future behaviour. The way a puppy is raised including their socialisation, training, environment and ongoing experiences will also help shape their development.

Some temperament traits are more malleable and can be influenced through thoughtful training and positive experiences. Others are more deeply rooted and form part of who that puppy naturally is.

Our role is to help match you with the puppy whose needs and personality are most compatible with your home because the right puppy may not always be the one you would have chosen from a photo. 💕

"Do you have any puppies available now?" 🐶

Something people don't always realise about how we breed...we don't mate first and hope the puppies find homes. We fill the waitlist first, then we mate.

It sounds like a small distinction, but it changes everything about the decision.

We wait until we've got a full waitlist of families we're genuinely happy to place puppies with, and only then do we go ahead with the mating. It means every puppy already has somewhere to go before it's even conceived, and it means our girls are only ever bred because there's existing demand for that litter, not because we're hoping families will show up.

No demand, no mating. Simple.

So if you're thinking about adding a Silverleaves Labradoodle to your family in the next 6-12m, it might be a good time to pop an inquiry in and join our waitlist..a Silverleaves Labradoodle is worth the wait!

Which brings me to Evie... we're currently progesterone testing her, hoping to confirm a successful mating soon. Her waitlist is already full and now we're just waiting on her. Thanks to everyone on her list that has been so patient!
