Apologies for the personal post today, but I’m going to dedicate this day to my beloved dentist sister who sadly lost her battle with cancer two years ago. 🦷❤️

Hi big sis, I wish more than anything that I could celebrate your birthday with you🎂

Since I was young, you showered me with so much love, care, and support (and pocket money 🤑haha). You were always so proud of me, even for the smallest and most insignificant achievements, and you made me feel like I could accomplish anything.

You would have lived forever if love could cure everything. ❤️🕊️

🦷 A missing tooth in a young dog?!

Well… not exactly! 👀

Meet Phil, this handsome German Shepherd who had a little surprise hiding beneath his gum! 🐶💙

When Phil was a puppy, he had an unfortunate encounter with another dog that resulted in a bite to the face. At the time, his adult canine tooth was still developing inside his jaw. Sadly, the trauma affected the tooth’s development and normal eruption.

Fast forward to today… his primary vet noticed the “missing” canine tooth and took a dental radiograph — revealing a deformed, unerupted tooth hiding beneath the gum! 🦷🔍

Phil was referred to us for surgical extraction, as we didn’t want this abnormal tooth causing problems for him down the track.

✨ Surgery was a success! ✨

Phil is recovering well, and we’ll be seeing this handsome boy again soon for his recheck. 🥰

What looks like a “missing” tooth isn’t always what it seems! Dental radiographs can reveal what’s hiding beneath the gums. 🩻🦷

Ever heard of Raine Syndrome in a Border Collie? 🤯🦷💥

It’s an uncommon genetic condition that can cause soft, weakened tooth enamel (the outer layer of the teeth). This means the teeth can wear down much faster than normal, leading to painful pulp exposure, tooth death and infection of the tooth roots. 😢🦷

Sweet Kobe recently came to us for dental extractions and management of his condition. Thankfully, he recovered beautifully and is now pain-free and feeling like himself again! ❤️🐶

Mildred🎀: a heart murmur + periodontal disease + tooth resorption combo!!!
After moving back to Brisbane from Mt Isa, Mildred's family noticed she wasn't eating as enthusiastically and that her canine teeth had become loose. During her visit with Dr. Will in early 2026, we found severe periodontal disease with suspected tooth resorption, along with an unexpected heart murmur. ❤️🦷

Because every patient deserves the safest anaesthetic possible, Dr. Will recommended pre-operative blood testing and an echocardiogram with a veterinary cardiologist to fully assess her anaesthetic risk. ❤️💉

With the expertise of our anaesthesiologist, Dr. Nick Cowling, Dr. Will and the Sabertooth team safely performed near full-mouth extractions—and Mildred was an absolute superstar! ✨

Fast forward to the postop recheck visit... she's recovered beautifully and is absolutely thriving! 🥹🌼

UQ Final Yr Vet Student Conference'26 ~ whoop whoop!
Dr. Will and Selena went to Uni of QLD at Gatton to teach a fun dental bootcamp 2 weeks ago to final year vet students 💪
We did a combo of dental extractions, regional nerve block, and dental radiology interpretation workshop 🦷☢️
We hope these skills would help in preparing them for the clinical work next year following graduation
❤️👨‍🎓👩‍🎓🌼
Our student cohort was amazing + super keen to learn!!! We really enjoyed our time (hopefully the students too 🤣)

We did an interactive dental radiology interpertation session with everyone (with some yummy lunch) 🥗🍕
I swear they were doing the quizzes on their phone and not checking social media 🤣
Everyone was enthusiastic and most importantly, we all had fun🤭

There was an unexpected cancellation so we finished our cases earlier than anticipated 🐶🐱
We used the opportunity to do a short excursion, had a hearty lunch, and took a bunch of selfies 🤣📸
We all went back to work to tidy up some admin, then we went home early, woowee!!!🌼
We handled the unexpected day with the classic Sabertooth style, 👉Work Smart & Play Hard 👈
