🍫🐾 Completely Rescued welcomes…
The Chocolate Box Litter! 🐾🍫

Five little sweethearts, one fresh start, and enough puppy eyes to melt even the darkest chocolate heart. 🤎

Rescued at just 9 weeks old, these teeny-tiny - Labrador x Ridgeback pups are now safe in foster care. They’re a little fluffy and apparently the Lab genes called dibs on this assortment! 😂

Meet our delicious little line-up:

🥥 Bounty — Female, white and black
Just like her namesake, she’s a beautiful mix of dark and white sweetness. A little taste of paradise… with paws!

🍯 Twix — Female, tan
Our golden caramel girl! Why choose between left Twix and right Twix when this little face has you looking twice? Double the temptation, zero chance of resisting those eyes.

🍫 Flake — Female, black with four white toes, a tiny white nose blaze and a white chin. Our delicately decorated little delight. She’s brought her own white chocolate sprinkles — and we’re already crumbling at the sight of her!

🖤 Chomp — Male, black
The only boy in the box! A little Chomp of chocolate-inspired cuteness, with a name perfectly suited to the puppy-tooth chapter ahead. Hide your slippers, folks! 😂

🌀 Twirl — female, black
A little dark chocolate darling ready to put a sweet twist in someone’s story. One look at that face and your heart does a little Twirl!

Behind the chocolate names are five sweet babies who deserve something far sweeter than a treat: a safe home, a loving family and a lifetime of belonging. 🤎

For now, their foster family is helping them settle, grow and discover how lovely life can be. They’ll soon be ready for suitable, carefully vetted homes, with people ready for puppy training, patience and all the years beyond this tiny stage.

These little ones are no impulse purchase at the checkout — they’re a lifetime commitment, wrapped in fur. 🐾

Keep an eye on Completely Rescued for adoption updates. Please share our Chocolate Box Litter and help their sweetest chapter find its beginning. 🍫🏡

🌶️ SPICE UPDATE: Hot n Spicy Sriracha 🌶️

Three weeks in care and our Hot & Spicy Ginger Sriracha is starting to show us a whole different side of himself. ❤️

This week was a big one for our spicy boy — he was finally desexed, thanks to an amazing rural vet who squeezed him in, understood exactly what we were dealing with and wasn’t put off by his… spiciness. 😂🌶️

It meant a fair bit of travel for us, but absolutely worth it to get this boy the care he needed.

And now we’re seeing a BIG change in him.

After trying different setups and plenty of head scratching, we’ve discovered that for Sriracha, less really is best.

He’s now happily settled into one big crate with his favourite hideout, food, water, litter tray, a blanket and, most importantly…

HIS CATNIP. 🤪🌿

Oh… and a little country music playing in the background. 🤠🎶

Apparently this is Sriracha’s version of a luxury retreat, boot scooting style. 😂

And just look at him!

He’s coming out of his hideout, eating while I’m nearby and actually looking relaxed enough to just chill. 🥹

He’s still very much a spicy boy. We’re not pretending he’s suddenly a lap cat — he still has plenty to say about my presence! 😂

But the difference from where he started is huge.

Three weeks ago, this beautiful boy was terrified, defensive and ready to strike at anything that came near him.

Now we’re getting slow blinks, relaxed body language and little glimpses of the cat underneath all that armour. ❤️

We’ll keep taking things at Sriracha’s pace, give him the space he needs and see where this journey takes him.

For now, he’s recovering from his desexing, enjoying his catnip and listening to a bit of country music.

One crate. One hideout. One spicy dude. One very happy catnip plant… and a little bit of country. 🤪🌶️🤠

And honestly… we’ll take that win. ❤️🐾

🐾 9 cats. One vet run. A much bigger impact than we sometimes realise. 🐾

Today, another 9 Completely Rescued cats headed off to the vets for their important vet checks, vaccinations, desexing and everything else they need to get them ready for their next chapter. ❤️

And after getting home a little exhausted, unpacking, settling everyone back into their runs to recuperate, we had a look at our foster spreadsheet…
Number crunching mode initiated 🧮

Since January 2026, Completely Rescued has taken in 73 cats.

🐱 35 females
🐈 38 males

And because all 35 of those girls were breeding age, I started wondering what those numbers could actually mean.

If those 35 girls had remained out there breeding, using a conservative estimate of around 4 kittens per litter:

35 mums × 4 kittens = 140 kittens

The original 35 could potentially have had another litter within this same 10-month period: Another 140 kittens

That’s already 280 kittens.

But it doesn’t stop there…
Around half of those first 140 kittens would be female — approximately 70 young girls.

Cats can reach breeding age surprisingly young, meaning some of those daughters could also have entered the breeding cycle within this same period.

Using a conservative estimate, those 70 young females could potentially account for another ~240 kittens.

😳 So, in just 10 months:

35 original breeding females
➕ 140 kittens from their first litters
➕ 140 kittens from another litter
➕ ~240 kittens from their female offspring

= ~520 potential unwanted kittens prevented from entering the cycle.

And that’s without even continuing into the next generation. 🫠

Of course, we can’t know exactly how many kittens would have been born. This is a potential-impact calculation, not a literal count of kittens saved.

But it really shows why desexing matters so much.

We’re not just preventing one litter.

We’re interrupting a breeding cycle that can very quickly become hundreds — and then thousands — of cats.

And here’s the really amazing part…

We’re just one small rescue.

There are so many other rescues, volunteers, colony trappers and organisations doing exactly the same thing across our Yass Valley Community, Canberra, the Southern Tablelands and beyond.

Every female desexed.
Every accidental litter prevented.
Every cat taken out of the breeding cycle.

It all adds up.

Especially with rescue work, where everyone is exhausted, underfunded and usually one emergency away from wondering how the hell they’re going to fit another cat in. 😂

Your 10 cats. Our 10 cats. Someone else’s 20 cats.

One desexing at a time. One trap at a time. One rescue at a time.

We might each be small, but look what happens when we add it all together.

The collective impact isn’t just “a few cats rehomed.”

It’s potentially thousands upon thousands of kittens who never enter an already overflowing rescue system in the first place.

So today, we’re celebrating our 9 who went to the vets — but we’re also celebrating every single person out there doing this work.

The trappers.
The foster carers.
The rescuers.
The vets and vet nurses.
The volunteers.
The donors.
The people quietly feeding and desexing a colony.

We might be small, but together, the impact is enormous. 🐾❤️

This is how we change the numbers 😻

Today was “D” day for our gorgeous Winnie the Poo litter… well, it was until it wasn’t. 🙁

Everyone had been fasting, had their last-minute crazy zoomie time, toilet visits and all-important smooches 💋

We were in the car and even running on time — Goulburn, here we come! 🙌🏻

Unfortunately, our wonderful vets had not had quite the same organised morning as us, with multiple emergency presentations deciding that today was the day they all needed to happen. 😩

With the vet and nursing teams stretched to the absolute max, our desexing procedures needed to take a back seat.

Unfortunately, these things sometimes happen. As animal lovers, we can be frustrated when our carefully planned day gets disrupted, but the animals ALWAYS come first. When emergencies come through the doors, routine procedures need to be rescheduled so the veterinary teams can focus on the animals who urgently need them.

Our hearts sank hearing that someone’s beloved pet was so distressed and in pain. 😢 We certainly weren’t going to complain about our day being changed when another family was facing a much more difficult one.

Despite the change of plans, our Completely Rescued crew still enjoyed our morning out — consider it a practice desexing run for the Winnie the Poo crew! 😉

Our thoughts are with the paw-rents of the pets who were rushed in today. We hope their beloved family members are recovering well, and that the veterinary and nursing teams are too after what sounds like an incredibly stressful day. ❤️

But all was not wasted for the Completely Rescued road-trip team!

On the way home, we dropped by our wonderful friends at Gundaroo Vet Clinic, where Winnie and her crew bravely faced vaccinations and microchip implantation — ticking off some very important boxes as they prepare for adoption. 🥰

Desexing is still required, of course, and we’ll be re-booking them as soon as availability is advised.

So… D day has been postponed, but the Winnie the Poo crew are one step closer to finding their forever homes! 🐾❤️

🤫 SECRET RESCUE MISSION… SHHH! 🙊🐾

So… I went out to visit our Rugby colony today.

And, well… I may have accidentally come home with four more cats. 😆

Meet our newest Completely Rescued girls — one gorgeous ginger girl and three beautiful tabbies, each a different shade of grey. 🧡🩶

And the BEST part?

They’re all friendly! 🙌🏻🥰

They’ve now left the colony behind and are safely in care, where they’ll get their vet work done and then start looking for their forever homes.

There’s just one little problem…

Courtney doesn’t know yet. 🤣🤫

So consider this our official “Surprise, Courtney!” announcement. 😂

More photos, names and adoption details coming once these beautiful girls have had their vet work done.

Four more safe. Four more chances at happily ever after. ❤️🐾

Welcome to Completely Rescued, girls. 🥰

⚠️ IMPORTANT – H5 BIRD FLU DETECTED NEAR CANBERRA ⚠️

We wanted to share an important update with our Completely Rescued community, particularly those with cats, backyard chickens and other pets who may come into contact with wild birds.

H5 bird flu has now been confirmed in a Greater Crested Tern in Goulburn – very close to the Canberra region.

While the risk to human health remains LOW and there have currently been no detections in commercial poultry flocks or captive birds in NSW, this is something pet owners should be aware of.

🐱 CAT OWNERS – PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE

H5N1 can infect cats, and overseas cases have shown that infection can cause very serious illness.

For now, some simple precautions can help reduce the risk:

• Keep cats contained and away from wild birds and wildlife
• Do not allow cats to investigate, catch or eat sick or dead birds
• Consider avoiding raw or undercooked meat and raw pet food during this period
• Keep pets away from poultry and farm environments where possible
• Wash your hands after handling birds, poultry or animals that may have had contact with wildlife

🚨 WATCH FOR SIGNS OF ILLNESS

Seek veterinary advice urgently if your cat develops sudden lethargy, loss of appetite, fever, breathing difficulties or neurological symptoms such as wobbling, seizures, circling or apparent vision problems – particularly if they may have had contact with a bird or eaten raw meat.

🐦 IF YOU FIND A SICK OR DEAD WILD BIRD

Please DO NOT touch or collect it, and keep your children and pets away.

Avoid contact, record the location and report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on:

📞 1800 675 888

The NSW Government is continuing surveillance and working with the poultry industry to reduce the risk of further spread.

There is no need to panic – but with a confirmed detection now in Goulburn, this is a good time for those of us in Canberra and surrounding regions to be a little more cautious with our animals.

Please share this with other pet owners in our community. ❤️🐾
