With extreme temperatures forecast across the state over the coming days, grey headed flying-fox populations are at high risk and may be affected at some locations.
These animals are vulnerable to heat-related illness and mortality.
To help keep cool, bats may show normal behaviour such as:
🦇 flapping wings excessively,
🦇 panting,
🦇 clustering on branches or trunks (as the trunk is often the coolest),
You can help them by:
✅ giving them space
✅ not disturbing them
✅ not touching or handling them
