Every family business has a story, and behind Drayhorse Shires is the Armstrong family, husband and wife team Casey and Michael Armstrong, along with their 7 year old daughter, Maddy.
Together, we share a love of horses, country life and creating memorable experiences for others.

🐴 CASEY ARMSTRONG
Casey has spent more than 35 years immersed in the equine industry and has competed across many disciplines of horse sport, achieving placings at National level.
From hacking, dressage, eventing and stock horse challenges, horses have always been a huge part of Casey’s life.
Alongside her passion for horses, Casey has spent almost two decades working as a Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic, including rural, remote and city environments.
🌿 MICHAEL ARMSTRONG
Michael comes from strong country roots, with his family having lived and farmed in the Rosewood district for generations.
Michael has been a secondary school teacher for 28 years, dedicating his career to supporting and educating young people. Outside of teaching, he has always had a strong connection to country life, farming, horses and football.
Michael is an enormous part of what happens behind the scenes at Drayhorse Shires, from farm work and maintenance to helping with the horses, transport and everything else that comes with running a growing family business.
🤍 MADDY ARMSTRONG
And then there’s our 7 year old daughter, Maddy.
You will almost always find Maddy following along behind Mum and Dad around the farm, watching, helping and soaking up everything that comes with country life. And when she isn’t with Mum and Dad, you will often find her next door at Grandma and Grandad’s farm, lending a hand and helping wherever she can.
She has grown up surrounded by horses, animals, family and the farm, and she is a very special part of our Drayhorse Shires journey.
🏡 OUR HOME
Drayhorse Shires is proudly based on our 5th-generation family farm at Ebenezer, Queensland.
For us, this is more than a business. It is our home, our horses, our family and a new chapter that we are incredibly proud to share with you.
Since taking over the business in October 2025, as the previous owners prepared to retire, we have been working hard to build on its wonderful foundations while creating something that reflects our love for these magnificent horses and the experiences they make possible.
🐴 BUT WE AREN’T THE ONLY ONES!
While we might be the faces behind Drayhorse Shires, we certainly couldn’t do this without our incredible team. From caring for our magnificent horses to helping bring every wedding, formal, funeral, Cobb & Co experience and whatever else comes our way to life, we are so grateful for the amazing people who stand beside us and work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Together, we help create beautiful horse drawn experiences, care for our Shires and ensure every event is delivered with professionalism, warmth and attention to detail.
