Testing incubators and fertility and I must say, the boys must be getting frisky 😅. We had a 24/24 hatch and now 21/23.

7 x Brahmas
9 x Easter Eggers (Aracauna rooster with maran, aracauna and olive egger hens - so coloured eggs 🪺

Unsexed, $10 each
Will require heat

Located Grasstree Beach area but can meet in Mackay on Monday or Wednesday morning.

The breeders have now been separated for the breeding season so we can offer purebreds again very soon. I was going to take the season off but chickens are far too addictive 🤭

This is why I am so passionate about breeding good behaviour into my flock. Our Pekins are unreal - dragged in and out of the house, on the swing with the kids... even Bandit the rooster gets put in a pram and has a nap 🤣

Such special little birds 🥰

Its been a little while but we are back 🐣

Our first hatch of the year to test fertility and the incubators, with the sweetest little babies I've ever hatched arriving. Just check the size difference between brahmas and pekins 😆.

Swapping out the beetles today 🪲

Generally every 2 weeks I give the beetles a new drawer with bedding, which allows the eggs they've laid to hatch some baby worms 🪱.

Whilst the beetles lifespan is only 3-4months, theu spend time eating and fornicating 🤣. Changing the beetles bedding is a good chance to remove any dead ones helps keep the bins tidy (and the chooks get a crunchy treat).
