A little note from our adoption team... ❤️ 🐾

Sometimes we have to say “not this time.”

And we know that can be disappointing.

We have families message us saying “I applied for Honey” or “Can I have Butterscotch?” - and sometimes we have to say no. Not because you aren’t a wonderful home, but because we just don’t have a cat or kitten in care right now that is suitable for your family.

We don’t rush adoptions to just get them adopted and out of care.

We have a duty of care to the cats in our care to find the family that best suits THEIR needs. We are looking after the best interests of the cats Always.

Timid girls like Sugar, Butterscotch or Calypso won’t thrive in a loud, busy house with toddlers. A smooch like Toffee who needs to be the centre of attention might not suit a home where she’s left alone 10 hours a day. A girl like Capone who needs space, quiet and patience won’t suit someone wanting an instant lap cat.

And then we have gorgeous boys like Father and Son Boots and Rufus. We adore them, but they have been through a lot. They were stray cats growing up on a minesite who were chased by big dogs, so they are terrified of big dogs. And they don’t like the noise of little kids either. For them, we need a calm, adult-only, dog-free home where they can finally feel safe.

If we put them in a home with kids and big dogs just to get them adopted faster, we would be setting them up to fail. And that’s not fair to them, or to you.

They WILL ALL eventually find their purrrfect homes. They just might take a bit longer. And that’s okay.

We’d rather they wait a little longer in a safe foster home, than end up in the wrong home and come back scared and confused.

Cats choose their families. And when it’s right, you’ll know. ✨

We have some amazing news!

Purrrfect Treasures Cat Haven Inc - Congratulations, you are our Q4 Donation Tin Recipient. All donations for this quarter will be donated to the amazing work you are doing!

We are so honoured and grateful to have been chosen by Magpies Sporting Club as their Q4 Donation Tin Recipient!

This means between now and 4th January, every cent dropped into the donation tins at Magpies will come directly to our rescue to help us save, desex, vet and rehome cats and kittens in need across our region.

It might not seem like much, but those gold coins add up to life-saving vet work, food, litter, medications and safe haven for cats just like Cuddles, Toffee, Honey, Butterscotch, Calypso, Boots and Rufus

A letter from CAPONE 🖤

Hi... it’s me, Capone.

I know my name sounds tough, but I’m really just a soft, shy girl.

I lived on the streets for the first year of my life and I raised one litter of babies out there with my sister. I was lucky - a kind gentleman looked out for us.

Life wasn’t easy, so I learned to be very timid. I will need a quiet house and someone who is patient with me and will give me time to settle. I’m not the kitty who will jump straight onto your lap.

But then... I will show you my other side.

I’m a very sweet girl and I’m quite happy just to chill. I will chill beside my people, keeping you company, but I do like my own space too. I’m gentle, I’m quiet, and I’m grateful.

I get on well with another cat once we are slowly introduced - I just like slow and steady.

I’m not asking for much. Just a safe place to finally feel at home, after a year of surviving on the streets.

Could you be the one who shows me what a forever home feels like?

COMMUNITY TEAMWORK SAVES 11 LIVES ❤️🐾

It takes a village...

We have been working together with Tara - Cat Coordinator from Bowen Collinsville Rescue and Lauren - RSPCA Inspector in Mackay, to help a family in Collinsville who had become overwhelmed with cats and kittens.

On Saturday our President Sarah did a big road trip to Collinsville to pick them all up.

We now have safe in care:
2 Mums - Cuddles and Toffee (sisters, only 12 months old themselves 😢) with 6 x 3-4 week old babies between them
PLUS 3 older kittens, about 6-8 months old.

Here’s the little family breakdown:
• Cuddles is mum to the 4 older kittens and 3 x 3.5 week old babies.
• Toffee is mum to 3 x 4 week old babies.
• The owner decided to keep one older boy kitten and we will work with Bowen Rescue to get him desexed.

Once we got them all home, mum Toffee decided she’d had enough of raising babies - she has no milk left. Super mum Cuddles has now stepped up and is looking after all 6 little ones! We think this has been the arrangement for a while before they came to us.

Meet the older girls:
Honey, Butterscotch & Calypso - all 3 are girls.
Honey, Cuddles and Toffee are very smoochy girls who absolutely love attention. Butterscotch and Calypso are a little timid but are slowly warming up and showing us their sweet personalities. They are all gorgeous fluffy girls and little Calypso is a short hair Manx x with no tail! 🥰

They are all safe, warm, fed and loved now. This is what happens when rescues work together.

We will get every single one desexed, vet worked and into loving forever homes when they are ready - breaking the cycle for good.
