If you have a neural diverse child you can understand the challenge it can be, even as an adult - just ask me. So if your in the area pop in to them - or help - or volunteer. As a small business owner I know how hard it can be - I also know how important community can be in this community. If you can help let them know. Even if it’s simple sharing to help awareness. The number of families who struggle and not know there is help is astounding 🐾
Just over a year ago, I reopened Little Village and started again from scratch.
After everything life threw at us — housing instability, rebuilding after domestic violence, raising neurodiverse children largely on my own, and trying to hold everything together emotionally - I still believed this little community space was worth fighting for.
And slowly… it started working.
Little Village has grown into a genuine community space:
🌈 neurodiverse-friendly groups
☕ parents finding connection
🎲 social groups and workshops
🏡 a safe place where people can simply exist without pressure
For the first time in a long time, I’ve actually gotten to the point where the business is mostly covering rent and day-to-day expenses.
But large unexpected costs — especially insurance and outgoings — have hit hard, and I now urgently need to raise $5,000 before the 20th to keep things moving forward.
People often tell me I need to ask for help more, but honestly, that’s something I really struggle with because of CPTSD. Writing this post is actually a pretty big thing for me.
I know times are tough for everyone, so there is absolutely no pressure. But if Little Village has ever helped your family, made you feel welcome, or simply feels like something worth keeping in the community, I’d be incredibly grateful for support or even just a share.
I am also still accepting applications from secret millionaire benefactors with excellent taste in community spaces ❤️ so if you know any- please share this to them 🤣
