This was the beautiful big boy who had botulism and rescued by the workers where they were doing the drenching in late April at Golden Beach Caloundra, we nicknamed him digger as he fought for his life.

It was so beautiful seeing him spread those beautiful wings again.

We got a phone call about this poor pelican yesterday and several phone calls today, but Bridgette wasn’t up to going yesterday after her being unwell for a few days and still not fully recovered yet.

So mum and me and Bridgette came along too ,just to supervise .

Bridgette wanted to give a high five, it made Bridgette’s day.

Bridgette hasn’t been helping with the birds for the last few days, but she will be supervising, so she can be with the birds, and to be with me.

The pelican was so lucky the hook was just underneath the skin, but it could have been worse if he had preened himself and got caught to his bill what a disaster if that had happened, we removed the huge lure then released him back, one lucky big boy.

Thank you mum for helping me today with the rescue, also thank you to the people who phoned in.

Couldn’t see the one with lure in foot today, hopefully it fell out.

We released two pelicans today that we had in care almost for two weeks due to the minor injuries .

Then we noticed one he was limping and getting picked on by other pelicans, also he is a very old pelican, so we are going to nickname him Grandpa, we are going to give him the loving care he needs.

This poor darling had to come into care so we can put a paddle on his web foot as his little back toe is curving under , also has a wound to the leg due to a trauma, he is a beautiful natured pelican.

We have had this cute little black cormorant for two weeks.
Someone spotted him at Rockhampton walking along the Bruce Highway, then they took him to Tanawah Vets.
Then we got a phone call to pick him up, he is only a very young one, he needed fattening up, still doing so well he really loves his fish.
We would like to say a thank you to the person who picked him up.

Saving another pelican.

We are so glad the lady from Harvey bay gave us a call, and the wildlife group that did the transporting to Gympie for us so a big thank you again.

This is what our auntie dorrie found out what we and mum have to put up with travelling home with pelicans on board.
Poor auntie dorrie, not a princess job she said, but she loves what we do.
Auntie dorrie has been helping out too.

This afternoon we released another two pelicans at golden beach Caloundra, both were affected by fishing line and hooks, the poor big boys were in care for a while, but we didn’t mind as we wanted the best for them.

We said to them please try and keep safe without getting hooked up again.

While we were there we rescued three pelicans today , but one was released, but had to bring two back.

Our auntie dorrie couldn’t handle the regurgitation on the way home.

She said it’s not just about rescuing and rehabbing, you have to put up with this too, you have to have a strong stomach sometimes.
