🚨💔 WE ARE CLOSED. WE NEED TO RAISE $50,000 TO OPEN OUR DOORS AGAIN. 💔🚨
To our dear followers, I honestly never thought I would have to write those words.
But today, with more than 200 dogs in our care, enormous vet bills piling up and dogs still needing surgeries, specialist treatment and ongoing care, we have reached breaking point.
We cannot take in another dog.
Our doors are now CLOSED to new intakes until we can get these bills under control.
And today, I am asking our incredible community to help us so we can:
💔 PAY DOWN OUR VET BILLS.
💔 CARE FOR THE 200+ DOGS ALREADY DEPENDING ON US.
💔 OPEN OUR DOORS AND START SAVING LIVES AGAIN.
I'm counting on at least 12 of you to kickstart our emergency appeal to open our doors again by clicking here now: https://lucky-paws-dog-rescue.mygiveeasy.com/our-doors-are-closed/donate
As you know, we focus heavily on dogs in rural and outback pounds - dogs who often have nowhere else to go.
For so many of them, when we say YES, it is their lifeline.
But right now, we have no choice but to say NO.
And that is absolutely devastating. 💔
In just the last month, we have taken in 15 mums and their pups.
Henrietta, Gucci, Marnie, Opal, Hazel, Rosie and Moxie are currently in our care with an incredible 43 puppies between them.
Then there are litter after litter of puppies who arrived without their mums — our Disney, Weather, Friends, Gods, M, P, Car, Flower, Tassie and Music litters.
And then there are the medical cases.
🐾 Baltic has undergone a cruciate repair.
🐾 Waggs sadly has advanced mammary cancer.
🐾 Monroe has epilepsy and needs bilateral hip surgery.
🐾 Roxy was returned after being attacked by another dog, leaving deep wounds across her back that required costly surgery.
🐾 Aqua is currently under specialist care
And incredibly, we currently have 15 dogs undergoing heartworm treatment — Trusty, Stitch, Matilda, Chase, Zeke, Harvey, Kirby, Narla, Nutmeg, Biggie, Levi, Honey, Ozzie, Avril and Ivy.
Heartworm treatment costs more than $1,500 per dog.
That is over $22,500 in heartworm treatment alone.
We also have four dogs in board and train at $89 per dog, per day.
That is another $356 EVERY SINGLE DAY.
And none of that includes the everyday cost of feeding and caring for more than 200 dogs, vaccinations, desexing, medications, emergency treatment, specialist appointments and the vet bills that just keep coming.
We are bursting at the seams.
We have stretched every dollar.
We have squeezed in one more dog. Then another. Then another.
We have kept saying YES because we know what can happen when nobody else does.
But we simply cannot continue like this.
🚨 WE NEED TO RAISE $50,000. 🚨
Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It's the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us more than you can ever imagine.
Please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this post. Share it with your friends. Share it with your family. Share it with your community groups. We need as many people as possible behind us.
🚨 OUR DOORS ARE CLOSED. PLEASE HELP US TO OPEN THEM AGAIN. 🐾❤️
I'm hoping that when I wake up in the morning we have hit our goal xx
