Purchased as a yearling from Merriview Stud, Dove has been handled, started and trained by us.
She is a sweet, sensible, friendly and un spoiled mare that is great to catch, ties up all day, rug, wash, float and truck, is respectful of tape and fences.
She was shown as a 2yo bringing home strong placings in her first stock horse futurity at branch level.
She has since been carted to events to see the world. She is fine on the truck for long hauls and is settled in new locations.
She has an excellent foundation installed, very soft in the bridle with natural correct head carriage, excellent stop and rate. Sidepass, shoulder control, hip control, rollback, spin etc, she has started a bit of fast work, and is working towards flying changes, with them mostly established.
She has done time on the flag, and has been lightly started on cattle, showing a lot of natural ability.
She is pretty good after a spell, done a bit of riding on her own around the farm and with others. Great at gates, and has done a bit of light mustering.
Full sister to Merriview Raven, who is our most consistent reliable performer with a swag of wins in multiple disciplines from reined cow horse, dressage, working stock horse classes and challenges.
Half sister to Labelles Flirtatious who is consistently performing well in Non Pro cow horse events (just won her first buckle at scone), as well as having a swag of placings in ASH events at branch level.
Dove is trainable, cowy and cool minded like her siblings with a natural desire please.
Cons, Dove can be a bit looky, and needs a firm confident rider to apply the aids and help her get past "scary" things, this is something that will improve with correct riding and more exposure.
She tollerates clippers on her neck, but not on her face or legs, at the moment.
Currently barefoot and up to date with dentals and has been vaccinated for teatnus.
Ideally I'd like to see this mare go to a competition home for drafting, challenging or cow horse. I think she has a huge future and will be just as competitive and consistent as her big sister.
She needs an experienced rider due to her age, with soft hands, a good seat and correct understanding of leg aids and when to use them.
This mare is only for sale due to lack of time on my part, and other younger horses needing work, plus foals coming along.
