10 years, yet it feels like yesterday...
This year marks ten years since the tragic loss of Olivia Inglis and Caitlyn Fischer in the Autumn of 2016.
Today, we pause to remember two talented young riders, and to acknowledge the enduring grief carried by their families, friends and the wider eventing community.
There are no words that can lessen such loss. But we can honour Olivia and Caitlyn through remembrance, and through continued action.
Over the past decade, important work has been undertaken across our sport by the EA National Health and Safety Team, the state and national eventing committees, officials, course designers, organisers, volunteers and eventing clubs to implement the recommendations of the Coronial Inquiry and make Eventing safer for both horses and riders.
That work has included changes to rules, medical and incident review processes, officials education, course design, and the use of frangible technology. It matters, and it must continue.
Pictured is the first in a series of memorial jumps to be installed in NSW through the funds of the Olivia Inglis Foundation— a quiet and meaningful tribute that also reflects our shared commitment to learning, improving and putting safety and horse welfare at the centre of our sport. These memorial jumps will be recognisably marked with three stars.
We remember Olivia. We remember Caitlyn.
