🐾♻️ A shout out to Phở Rapid Creek!

A big thank you for coming on board and supporting our Evie’s Bark Recycling Initiative. 💜

They had already been busy saving their 10c containers and had a garbage bag and a half waiting for us to collect!

We will now be do regular pickups whenever needed, helping save even more containers from landfill and turning them into much-needed funds for animal welfare 🐾♻️

And while I was there, it was a great chance to grab some lunch and try their Laksa Birria Bánh Mì, one of their entries in this year’s Darwin International Laksa Festival. Yummy!

If you love Vietnamese cuisine, go and check them out and support another local Darwin business!

🐾♻️ 9,204!

We are getting so close to 10,000 containers saved from landfill!

Since starting our Evies Bark Recycling Initiative, we have now recycled 9,204 containers 🙃

That leaves us just 796 containers to go until we reach 10,000❗️

Thank you to everyone who has been saving their 10c containers for us, dropping them into our bins and helping us grow our little recycling initiative 🐾♻️

💜🐾♻️ How lovely is this!

On Sunday one of our junior students at Kokoro Busshu Karate surprised us with $7.30 from their recycling.

They had collected their 10¢ containers, taken them into Envirobank themselves and then gave the money to Evies Bark.

♻️ 61 cans and 12 glass containers saved from landfill!

💰They then donated the $7.30 to Evie's Bark to add to our Recycling Initiative.

That’s another 73 containers to add to our total!

Their $7.30;

💜 $3.65 to HATS NT
🐾 $3.65 to Evie’s Bark

💰$920.40 raised
🐾 $460.20 to HATS NT

♻️ 9,204 containers saved from landfill

Our recycling initiative isn’t just about raising money for much needed funds for animal welfare. We also want to encourage more people to recycle, help keep containers out of landfill and get our younger generation and families involved.

A huge thank you to Lucas and his family for thinking of Evie’s Bark.

We are getting so close to our 10,000 containers saved from landfill milestone!

Only 796 recycable containers to go!

✨️making a difference to our environment and for animal welfare. 💜🐾♻️

This is absolutely heartbreaking. 💔

Avi's family trusted someone to care for their companion while they were overseas, and now they're desperately trying to find him.

Someone must know where Avi is!

This is the reason why Evie's Bark continues to push for better regulation and accountability in the pet care industry.

Our thoughts are with Avi's family, and we sincerely hope they will be reunited with their gorgeous furbaby. 💜🐾

Please share the post, especially with family and friends in Victoria. Someone out there may have the answers.

🐾 HAVE YOUR SAY – ANIMAL WELFARE IN AUSTRALIA 🐾

The Australian Government is asking for public feedback on the draft renewed Australian Animal Welfare Strategy.

Evies Bark will be putting in a submission as we continue pushing for better protection for companion animals, stronger laws and greater accountability.

We encourage everyone if they can to have their say and is an opportunity to help shape the future of animal welfare across Australia.

🐾🌏 PAWS FOR THE PLANET

🍷 DID YOU KNOW❓️

Your empty w**e and spirit bottles are now worth 10¢ in the Northern Territory!

Since 1 July this year, the NT Container Deposit Scheme has expanded to include w**e and spirit bottles.

So next time you finish a bottle of w**e, don't throw it away❗️

Give it a rinse and save it for Evies Bark. 💜♻️

Every container adds up, helping us reduce landfill while raising much-needed funds for animal welfare.

Through our Evies Bark Recycling Initiative, 100% of our recycling funds go towards animal welfare, with 50% supporting HATS NT (Helping Animals To Survive).

💔 Our thoughts are with the pet guardian and their family following the heartbreaking loss of their much-loved companion at Casuarina Beach.

If anyone knows the family, could you please let them know we would love for them to get in touch with us at Evie's Bark when they can.

RIP 🌈🐾💜

🐊 A Reminder to Be Crocwise on all Top End beaches🐊

Our thoughts are with the owner of the dog that was taken recently by a 3.6m crocodile at Casuarina Beach.

The Crocodile Management Team responded quickly and were able to remove the crocodile.

This distressing incident is also a timely reminder that we live and play in croc country and large and dangerous crocodiles live in our waterways and coastal areas, including popular recreation spots.

For your safety, and the safety of your family and pets do not enter the water and stay at least 5m from the water’s edge.

💜🐾 TODAY, 51 YEARS AGO – 15 OCTOBER 1975

On this day in 1975, Ms Alline Dawn Lawrie AM JP, the then Member for Nightcliff, introduced the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Bill into the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly.

Part of the proposed legislation included the registration and inspection of boarding kennels, stables and private zoos.

When speaking about the registration of boarding kennels, Dawn described it as already being “well overdue” and went on to say:

“This is protection for the public as well as the animals. At the moment anyone can set up boarding kennels with no controls at all.”

We came across this some time ago during our research but decided to hold off sharing our findings until today, as we felt this was a significant date in the history of animal welfare legislation in the NT.

And here we are, 51 years later, still pushing for licensing and registration of the pet boarding sector in the Northern Territory.

We want to share an extract from the parliamentary debate on 15 October 1975, so you can read Dawn's words for yourselves.

We have also reached out to Dawn's family, hoping we may one day have the opportunity to meet her, hear her memories of that time and learn more about what she was hoping to achieve.

We understand Dawn has been unwell recently and sincerely hope she is doing better. We wish her all the very best. 💜

We have plenty of questions, and our research continues and we will be doing an updated research post soon!

One small paw print at a time. 💜🐾
