Meet Maisi 👋🐾

Maisi is a busy little Border Collie with a high herding drive… but no clear job.

Before training, her self-appointed roles included:

• Bird patrol in the backyard
• Fence running + launching
• Barking at every neighbourhood noise
• Fixating on “possum trees”
• No recall when switched on

She’s not naughty.
She’s not dominant.
She’s a working-bred dog with no clear job so she created one — territorial security.

The more she practised it, the better (and louder) she got.

Now we’re building:
✔️ Clear outlets for her drive
✔️ Recall under distraction
✔️ Disengagement from triggers
✔️ Reinforcing calm

Border Collies don’t just need exercise — they need purpose.

If your dog has created their own job at home, it’s not a behaviour problem… it’s a clarity problem 💛

Just Arlo having dinner… but we don’t do boring food bowls around here 😉🐾

Tonight’s menu?

🎉 A game of Hide & Seek with his kibble!

Because dinner can be more than just eating — it can be enrichment, training, and confidence building all in one.

Why ditch the bowl sometimes?

• 🧠 Mental stimulation (tires them out more than a walk!)
• 👃 Encourages natural sniffing instincts
• 🐢 Slows down fast eaters
• 💪 Builds problem-solving skills
• 😌 Great for anxious or high-energy dogs
• 🐾 Adds purpose and fun to their day

Five minutes of sniffing = a much calmer dog after dinner.

And the best part? It costs nothing.

✨ Hide kibble in:
– Towels
– Around the yard
– Under buckets/cones
– In cardboard boxes
– Behind furniture

Would your dog enjoy this or flip the couch trying? 😂

Tell me below — does your dog eat from a bowl or work for their dinner?

Meet Murphy 🐾

Murphy and his family had their first consult yesterday, and we’re working on over-arousal both on walks and at home — things like jumping, mouthing, and big reactions on lead around people and dogs.

Murphy isn’t being “naughty” — he’s a dog with lots of energy and big feelings who hasn’t yet learned how to fully switch off. Our focus is on teaching calm skills, impulse control, and helping his nervous system settle so better choices become possible.

Such a good start already 💚

🔥🐶 Heatwave? Let’s Keep Those Dogs Happy & Safe! 🐶🔥

With temps soaring into the 40s most of the week, it’s time to swap long walks and park trips for cool, safe enrichment at home.

Remember: mental exercise can be just as tiring as physical exercise!

Here are some heat-friendly ideas you can use over the next 7 days 👇

🧠 Brain Games
• Scatter feeding or sniffing games
• Food puzzles, lick mats & Kongs (freeze them for bonus points!)
• Hide treats around the house and let your dog “hunt”

🎓 Short Training Sessions
• 3–5 minute bursts of training in the air-con
• Practice tricks, calm settle work, or loose leash skills indoors
• Shape new behaviours – mental work = tired dogs!

❄️ Cooling Enrichment
• Frozen broth ice cubes (dog-safe ingredients only)
• Damp towels for your dog to lie on
• Shallow paddling pool in the shade (supervised!)

👃 Scent Work
• Teach a simple “find it” game
• Use cardboard boxes or rolled towels with treats hidden inside
• Nose work is low-energy but high reward

⏰ If You Do Go Outside
• Early morning or late evening only
• Make sure temps are under 27 degrees
• Stick to grass, not hot pavement
• Watch for signs of overheating and keep sessions very short

💡 Reminder: A bored dog isn’t a bad dog — they’re often just under-stimulated.

A few intentional enrichment activities can make a HUGE difference during extreme weather.

If you need help creating a personalised enrichment or training plan for your dog, feel free to reach out 🐕💛

Stay cool, everyone! ❄️

Hi, I’m Emilia, and welcome to Chase That Adventure! 💛

I’m a force-free, reward-based dog trainer who believes that training should be fun, kind, and tailored to each dog. My goal is to help dogs and their humans grow together with confidence, trust, and joy.

I started this journey inspired by my love for my own dog, Ari, and the joy that comes from discovering life’s adventures together. My son, Chase, reminds me every day that learning is better when it’s playful, positive, and full of curiosity — which is exactly the approach I bring to all my training sessions.

Whether you’re working with a new puppy, an anxious rescue, or a dog who just needs some guidance, I focus on building happy, confident dogs who thrive in everyday life — and helping owners feel empowered, too.

Let’s make training a joyful journey — because every dog deserves to thrive on life’s adventures. 🐕
