Week 54 with Gizmo. The One Where He Was Ordered to Rest.

After last weekā€™s big surgery, this one was all about slowing down.

There were plenty of cosy snuggles, keeping warm by the fire, and making sure my little French Bulldog got all the love and attention he could possibly ask for. He only felt sorry for himself for a couple of days before he was already desperate to get back outside.

Unfortunately for Gizmo, the recovery plan involved lots of bed rest, a few gentle walks, and absolutely no zoomies. Safe to say he wasnā€™t impressed.

Heā€™s healing beautifully, breathing better every day, and counting down the days until heā€™s officially cleared for adventures again.

Week 53 with Gizmo. The one where he only has one ball.

We squeezed in plenty of nature walks, cosy log fire naps, a bit of rock climbing (because apparently every boulder is a challenge), and then came the big oneā€¦ surgery day.

Gizmo had his undescended testicle removed and finally had his BOAS surgery to open up his airways. Hopefully this means many more adventures, longer walks, easier breathing, and a lot less sounding like Darth Vader every time he gets excited.

Heā€™s already on the road to recovery, and I couldnā€™t be prouder of my brave little French Bulldog. Hereā€™s to the start of a whole new chapter. šŸ¤

Week 52 with Gizmo. The week personal space officially ceased to exist.

Apparently lying next to Mom is old news. This week he upgraded to lying directly on my face. Bold choice. Zero complaints from him.

The rest of the week was all our favourites. Walks through nature, stick fetch, cafĆ© dates, a FaceTime with Uncle Stanley, chasing Dadā€™s motorbike up the driveway like he pays the mortgage, and finishing every day curled up together on the sofa.

52 weeks with my little shadowā€¦ and somehow heā€™s getting clingier. Iā€™m definitely not complaining. šŸ¤

Week 51 with Gizmo. The one where he ate my underwear.

Yepā€¦ straight to the vets because somebody thought my underwear was a gourmet snack. Thankfully all was well, but Iā€™d really appreciate it if he could stop giving me mini heart attacks.

The cooler weather has officially arrived, which means cosy season is in full swing. Lots of cuddles, reading by the log fire, and watching Clarksonā€™s Farm where Gizmo has become completely obsessed with the pigs.

We still managed plenty of walks through nature, and despite his questionable taste in snacks, heā€™s still my favourite little shadow.

Althoughā€¦ the washing basket is now under very close supervision šŸ¤

Week 50 with Gizmo. The one with the dancer girls.

This week we took Gizmo along to a car event. Motor vehicles are very much Tozā€™s thing. Itā€™s his community, his people, and it was so nice being able to bring Gizmo along to be part of it all. Gizmo was even recognised from some of Tozā€™s videos.
There were loud engines, angle grinders throwing sparks, music, crowds, people everywhere and Gizmo handled it all perfectly. Not overwhelmed. Not reactive. Not stressed. Just happily taking it all in like heā€™d attended these events his entire life.
He was particularly interested in the dancer girls on the poles. Which feels very on brand for a male.
The only drama came when someone decided to throw chips on the floor for him. Maā€™am. This dog has never eaten a single bite of processed human food in his entire life. Do not corrupt my child.
Thankfully his recall and leave-it command were stronger than the temptation of hot chips and disaster was avoided.
The rest of the week was exactly how we like it. Nature walks, collecting sticks that apparently must come along the whole walk, playing with our neighbour Juno, car rides and of course endless cuddles.

Not a bad way to spend Week 50 if you ask me šŸ¤ I adore being a dog mom

Week 48 with Gizmo. The one with Zoomies caught on camera
What a fun filled week this one was. Coffee drive through dates, wandering around the local markets, Bunnings trips, and taking in those spectacular views that remind us every day why we love living where we do.
One of my favourite things lately has been checking the pet cameras while weā€™re out. It sounds silly, but it genuinely fills my heart. When Gizmo was younger, he would simply sit by the front door and wait for us to come home. Sometimes for hours. It used to break my heart. Now when I check in on him, I catch him having zoomies around the house, throwing toys around, playing by himself and generally being the little character heā€™s growing into. Seeing him feel safe enough to relax and enjoy himself when weā€™re not there is one of those little milestones I never expected to mean so much.
There were walks through our beautiful countryside, sticks collected along the way of course, and cosy evenings spent reading books in front of the log fire.
And of course, no week would be complete without bed cuddles. Because if Gizmo had his way, personal space would simply not exist. I love being a Dog Mom
