BREAKING & PRE-TRAINING AT RUBY

Something we’ve been working on behind the scenes and are excited to finally share.

5th Gen Horsemanship is now operating from Ruby Racing & Breeding, offering breaking and pre-training for horses here in the Midwest.

For us, it was important that anything we added at Ruby complemented the way we already care for and manage our horses.

Fifth Gen brings an individual approach to every horse that comes through — taking the time to work with the horse in front of them, rather than expecting every horse to fit the same program.

Pair that with the facilities, paddocks, feeding, conditioning and day-to-day care at Ruby, and there is a complete team around each horse throughout their preparation.

From their first education under saddle through to horses coming back into work, the aim is simple — give each horse the time, preparation and foundation they need for whatever comes next.

We’re really looking forward to seeing this next part of Ruby grow alongside Fifth Gen Horsemanship.

Breaking and pre-training enquiries are now welcome.

Evenings out in the big paddocks 🌅

Ruby Racing’s breeding season has started with a bang 💥

The flashy filly fairy has certainly been kind to us, with three cracking fillies arriving by Spirit of Boom, Tiger of Malay and Lightsaber — each a quality filly in her own right.

Our Spirit of Boom filly was born over at willowparkstud — a big thank you to their team for looking after her and for the beautiful photos.

The Tiger of Malay x Serenity Bay and Lightsaber x Jamaica Jeuney fillies were both born here at home in Geraldton, getting our season off to a pretty special start.

Now attention turns to the season ahead, with the mares looking to head back to Lightsaber and Royal Patronage this year.

A very exciting start to the 2026 breeding season for Ruby Racing. 🐎✨

Today, Bella, one of the key members of our Ruby Racing team, headed down to the Thompson & Redwood Equine Nutrition Seminar to continue building her knowledge around equine nutrition and understanding more about why we feed the way we do.

We’re always looking to keep learning and improving the way we care for our horses, and we’re looking forward to Bella bringing some new knowledge back to share with the team. A big thank you to Thompson and Redwood for the opportunity! 🐎🌱

One of our first foals for the season 🤍

A lovely Spirit of Boom filly out of Thesecondatportsea, safely delivered by the wonderful team at Willow Park Stud

The mare Thesecondatportsea, herself a $220k winner, is a half-sister to Ruby Racing graduate Earth Storm, nearly $290k in earnings, who recently sold for $155,000 as a racing and breeding prospect from Stewart Racing to Vahala Racing Stables

A lovely first foal for the mare and an exciting start to the season. ✨

One race preparation doesn’t build the athlete.
It reveals one. 💫

Every day before it, between it, and leading up to it.

Everything from Day one counts.

20/07/2026

You’re missing something simple…

People think performance is only built during a preparation.

But it’s also built from day one—and on the days they’re out of work.

The simplicity of:

• Finding somewhere your horse can move up to 20 km a day.

• Hills and open paddocks to build strength, coordination and balance, with the freedom to get up to a gallop and open their lungs.

• Keeping them moving during their time off. We don’t need athletes becoming lazy.

It’s no different to us. Stop going to the gym for eight weeks and it’s hard to get your fitness and motivation back.

Focus on developing athletes—whether they’re racing tomorrow or in three years.

Because performance isn’t built in a preparation.

It’s built from day one.

Winter? Are we sure? 🤔☀️
These warm days have the horses feeling like it’s already spring… and they’re making every second count. 🌿🐎🎶
