Meet our Team • Veterinarian Edition 🩺

Dr Lillian graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary and Animal Bioscience, with honours research in equine behaviour, before completing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Although her focus began on horses, she quickly discovered that her true passion lay in caring for our smaller furry companions—dogs and cats.

Originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Lillian has swapped the north for the south and now calls the Sutherland Shire home after joining The Shire Vet in January. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and is particularly passionate about surgery and building relationships with pets and their families and is committed to making every visit as positive and stress-free as possible.

While she is currently pet-free, Lillian is looking forward to welcoming a furry friend into her own family in the near future!

Mia’s journey to being wound free ❤️

Mia first came to us after a wound on her leg just wouldn’t heal. After trying multiple courses of antibiotics and showing no improvement on them, swabs showed that the bacteria in her wound was resistant to many commonly used antibiotics, making it much harder to treat.

After a skin graft was performed with skin taken from her flank, it finally gave the wound the chance to heal. This meant daily bandage changes and many weeks in our care, to ensure the best chances of success. After a very long few months, Mia is finally wound free!

Mia’s story is a reminder that wounds don’t always heal as expected, and antibiotic resistance can make treatment even more challenging.

We’re so thankful to Mia’s owner for trusting us throughout her journey, and we couldn’t be happier to see her finally healed and home🐾❤️

Simba decided cage life was not for him after his desexing, so he protested until he won himself ALL the cuddles with Nurse Emma 🤍 He was very needy… and very cheeky when he tried to eat his stitches, earning himself the cone of shame!
