Teeny is a brave 2.5 year old DSH who has already overcome more challenges than most cats will face in a lifetime.
Originally surrendered from a hoarder house, Teeny arrived in poor condition and suffering from a fractured hind limb. Following a fracture repair and months of recovery in foster care, she found a loving forever home. Unfortunately, her journey was not quite over.
Although the fracture healed, it did so in a severe malunion, leaving Teeny with ongoing pain, reduced mobility and an abnormal limb alignment. Her owners noticed that without pain relief she would consistently limp, often progressing to only toe-touching on the affected limb after activity and play.
Advanced CT imaging revealed a complex deformity involving the distal tibia and hock joint, including partial fusion of the joint and significant malalignment. Using Vet3D planning software, our surgical team developed a customised surgical plan, complete with patient-specific cutting guides and a custom arthrodesis plate.
Teeny underwent a left pantarsal arthrodesis with Dr Sarah to fuse the painful joint and improve the alignment of her limb. The procedure involved removing the remaining joint surfaces and stabilising the limb with a custom plate and screws designed specifically for her anatomy.
In the first photo you can see Teeny after one of her post-operative bandage changes with nurse Sammi, and if you SWIPE RIGHT you'll see her post-operative radiographs showing the implants in place ✨
We are delighted to report that Teeny has now had her bandage removed and is continuing her recovery at home. She will return next week for another recheck as we monitor her healing progress.
Considering where she started, Teeny’s resilience continues to amaze us, and we look forward to seeing her regain confidence and comfort on her journey back to an active, pain-free life.
