🐾 Some dogs just need a little more time to find their people. 🤎

And Lyra is one of those dogs.
Somehow, this beautiful girl has had no interest, and honestly… we don’t understand it.
Because once you get to know Lyra, it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with her.

Lyra is a gentle giant, two and a half years old with the sweetest nature and a very serious love for toys. She loves to play, loves her cuddles and is happiest curled up beside you on the sofa or snuggled into her bed.

She loves a run on the beach and is walking beautifully on the lead - no pulling, just happily strolling along beside you. She can be a little skittish when bicycles fly past or when there are loud noises, but a little reassurance from her humans is all she needs.

Lyra is dog selective, but please don’t let those two words put you off. She has never shown any aggression. She simply likes to take her time getting to know other dogs and feel reassured that her humans have got her back. With a slow introduction and some patience, she settles beautifully and can make lovely friendships.

She can be a little anxious when left alone, so she needs someone patient who will help her build confidence and understand that her people always come back. Having another larger canine friend has also helped her enormously.

During her time in foster care, Lyra and her foster brother have become the best of friends. They play, wrestle, cuddle and follow each other everywhere. They have made each other company, and we know her foster sibling is going to be absolutely heartbroken when Lyra finally finds her home.

But somewhere out there is a home where Lyra won’t be the foster dog. She’ll just be Lyra.
She’ll have her own bed, her own toy basket, her favourite spot on the sofa and people who love her completely.

And that’s the chapter we want for her.

Somewhere out there is the person who will see this gorgeous girl and realise that she doesn’t need to be perfect.
She just needs to be loved.
Someone who will give her time.
Someone who will let her settle at her own pace.
Someone who will fill a toy basket, make room on the sofa and give her the safe, loving home she’s waiting for.

Foster carer needed!

Litter after litter, Mumba has only ever known how to be a mum and caretaker for her babies.

Now it’s her turn to be loved, cared for and cherished.

Mumba is a 3 year old mixed breed girl - what is she mixed with you might ask? Good question.
She has an almost German shepherd coat, but the size of a beagle. This little mummy is the perfect size for anyone looking for a small/medium breed dog.

Mumba is the sweetest, most gentle girl you could meet. The loyalty she has to her people is incredible.
This little lady knows to stay by your side and will be with you wherever you go.

Mumba loves the creek, car rides and lazing around with you. She adores other dogs and has been great with every encounter no matter size or age.
She is not suitable for cats, chickens or pocket pets.

Mumba is wonderful with kids, and with her gentle nature would adore being around them.
Sometimes, if she wants your attention, she will do a little yip as if to say ‘Hey, I’m here. Play with me’.

Mumba is currently undergoing heartworm treatment so you would need to ensure that you can follow the protocol for her. This is paid for by the rescue and no expense to you.

Mumba would be suited to an elderly person or couple, a young family or someone who lives a relaxed, home based lifestyle.

THREE LEGS, ZERO SHAME. BELLY RUBS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE! 😂❤️

Our beautiful Oaka is still searching for her forever home! 🏡

After everything this gorgeous girl has been through, including losing a leg to an old, untreated injury, you’d think she might take life a little seriously.

Absolutely not. 😂

Oaka is living her best three-legged life, and as you can see, she has absolutely no shame when it comes to demanding belly rubs!

She’s a beautiful girl with so much love to give, and having three legs certainly doesn’t stop her from enjoying life.

⏳ Age: Approximately 2 years young.

🧬 Breed: Arab x Tripawd Dog.

🐱 Cats: Good with cats!

🐶 Dogs: Oaka can be a little choosy about her canine friends and needs slow, appropriate introductions. She’s currently living in foster care with other dogs and is doing well.

👶🏻 Children: Oaka loves kids. She’s so gentle and such a snuggler.

❤️ Vet work: Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with preventatives.

💰 Adoption fee: $400

Oaka doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for her. She just needs someone to fall in love with her, give her a chance and provide a lifetime supply of belly rubs.

🐾 Meet Miley 🤍

Miley is a beautiful 12-18 month old girl who is slowly discovering what it feels like to be safe, loved and cared for. With each passing day, a little more of her personality shines through, and it’s been so special watching her begin to come out of her shell. 🥹

If there’s one thing Miley absolutely LOVES, it’s cuddles! She’s a total cuddle bug who adores affection and is happiest when she’s close to her people. She also enjoys playing with her foster dog sibling and is dog-friendly, so she’d love a home where she can have some positive four-legged company.

At night, Miley settles into her crate like a good girl, and she’s very enthusiastic about anything involving food! ❤️

Miley is still learning that food will always be available and that she doesn’t need to worry about where her next meal is coming from. After going without enough food, she’s understandably still in survival mode and has even tried raiding the pantry to stock up for herself. We can’t blame a girl for trying when she hasn’t always had what she needed. 🥺 With consistency, patience and plenty of reassurance, we’re helping her learn that she’ll never have to go hungry again.

Miley has already come such a long way, but she still has so much love and personality waiting to unfold. She deserves a family who will give her the time, security and affection she needs to continue blossoming into the happy, confident girl she’s meant to be.

If you’re looking for a loving companion who will happily soak up all the cuddles you can give, Miley might just be your girl. 🤍

Miley is learning that the world can be kind, and we can’t wait for her to find the furever family who will show her that every single day. 🏡🐾

FOSTER CARER NEEDED FOR OLIVE! 🫒🤎

Our beautiful Olive is currently waiting in Weipa, hoping someone will open their heart and home to her. 🥹

At just 18 months old, this gorgeous Kelpie cross has her whole life ahead of her, but first she needs a safe place to land so she can begin her journey towards finding her forever family.

🐾 A little about Olive:

* 18-month-old Kelpie cross
* Desexed
* Best suited to a home with female dogs, not male dogs
* Slow introductions with any dogs is required while Olive is finding her feet
* Not yet tested with cats or other pets
* Will need some decompression time, patience and plenty of TLC while she settles into her new surroundings.

Stray to Stay provides all vet work and supplies! All we need from you is a safe space, a little time and a whole lot of love.

Olive can’t begin her next chapter until we find her a foster carer. She’s waiting for someone to give her that chance. 🥹
