Bribie Bird Rescue Our group is known as Moreton Bay’s most experienced flighted wild bird rescue group. The small group of rescuers is based on Bribie Island.

He was seen a few weeks ago in Lee Avenue.

Watching this purple swamp hen trying to walk with his feet tied by fine blue fishing line was excruciating!
We couldn’t get him the first day but finally got him this morning and took the line off.

Bribie Bird Rescue does not only rescue native birds. Rock pigeons are highly social, affectionate and intelligent birds.
Once war heroes they are now considered a pest but we don’t see them that way. Any bird that is suffering deserves our compassion.
At Centenary Lake Caboolture there are hundreds of pigeons that are fed daily by kids and adults alike.
It’s a lovely past-time for people to be near the water and experience the bird life.
Today we rescued 4 pigeons at the lake.
Two had entanglements. One is too bad to treat and will be humanely euthanised by the vet. One we could remove the hair and release.
Another had a swollen ankle and a fourth had an infected claw.
If you care about these pigeons please keep an eye out for any that may have hair around their toes or feet or are limping.

Andy the Pelican rescue Centenary Lakes Caboolture.

At first this dude ignored our mullet until his girlfriend decided she wanted some.

He’s super lucky that hook didn’t go into him.

The line was removed and he was checked over for hooks and line and released to hunt Tilapia again which he seems to prefer.

This lake is a strict no fishing zone and this is why.
