Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have charged a man following investigations into the alleged theft of a vehicle, containing Arnie the German Shepherd, from Wynnum on Saturday 8 November.

The owner of the vehicle has assisted police with these investigations, and it has now been established that a criminal offence of unlawful use of motor vehicle has not occurred.

Following extensive investigations, yesterday evening the 43-year-old male owner was charged with one count of breach of duty of care of animal by failing to provide under the Animal Protection Act.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Media and the public are thanked for their extensive assistance throughout the investigation.

So heartbroken to hear the news today, Arnie was found deceased.

His death was entirely preventable. An evil soulless, heartless SOB made a decision for Arnie to perish.

I actually hope the public find the perpetrator before police and serve a level of justice only an animal lover can understand.

Rest In Peace Arnie 🕯️ Forever loved and never forgotten.

We will be lighting a candle for you tonight Arnie.
