A DELIBERATE RETURN TO THE SOURCE

The planned pairing of Spiky BRN 21862 — PH I 417 CL with Ana BRN 53156 is a breeding built around preservation, concentration and proven working genetics.

Ana is already a granddaughter of Spiky, through her sire Tank BRN 52690. Pairing her directly back to Spiky creates a grandsire × granddaughter breeding, giving us the opportunity to reinforce Spiky’s influence through the dog himself rather than attempting to reproduce it through increasingly distant generations.

What makes this breeding particularly interesting is the strength of the family surrounding Spiky within Ana’s pedigree.

Ana is heavily influenced by Xandra BRN 39054, who appears twice in her immediate pedigree—both as Ana’s dam and as the dam of Tank. Behind Xandra sit PH I Nestor BRN 8893 and Exi Van Kampftrieb BRN 34443, with Exi descending from PH I Danko BRN 13462.

This creates a pedigree with considerable concentration around a relatively small group of proven Dutch working dogs.

The decision to use Spiky is therefore about more than his PH I 417 CL, his name, or his position on a pedigree.

It is about using a proven dog to reinforce a family that has already demonstrated the characteristics we value.

Spiky’s semen was collected and preserved many years ago. That foresight now gives us something increasingly difficult to achieve in modern breeding: the ability to reach directly back to an earlier generation rather than trying to approximate those genetics through descendants.

Ana provides the bridge between those generations.

We’re excited to share that the surgical insemination between Mido BRN 19567 and Brynhildr BRN 51993 was successful.

This breeding has been carefully planned with health, temperament and working ability at the forefront. As a father–daughter line breeding, the objective is to consolidate generations of proven KNPV genetics while maintaining a strong focus on soundness through comprehensive health testing and careful selection.

Mido is a proven KNPV PH1 male with certified Good hips / Normal elbows, recognised for his strong nerve, exceptional drives and consistent production of quality working dogs.

Brynhildr is an active operational security dog with clear 6-panel genetic health testing, hip and elbow scores, and the stable temperament, environmental confidence and work ethic we aim to preserve in our breeding program.

A major feature of this litter is the concentration of the legendary Jary Berghorst (BRN 6004) bloodline, reinforcing genetics renowned for exceptional nerve, full grips, relentless hunt drive and clear-headed civil aggression.

Our goal is to produce healthy, genetically sound working dogs capable of excelling in police, military, corrections, security, detection and experienced working homes.

We’re now looking forward to the pregnancy confirmation scan and will keep everyone updated as the journey progresses.
