🐴🌨️ It’s that time of year when lots of us have our horses rugged for the cold weather, and usually they are wearing them for half the day, or more! So a good fit is crucial to avoid discomfort, rubs or injury.
Here’s a few rugging tips I like to follow.
1.Belly straps: Make sure they are snug enough so your horse can’t get a hind foot stuck in them
2. Clips: Face your clips inwards towards the horse to lower the risk of a clip getting hooked on fencing wire. I have seen this happen 😳 - thankfully it was a quiet horse!
3. Chest straps: When your horse is eating (which is most of the day), check how tight the chest straps are as their head down changes the fit.
4. Putting the rug on/off: When your putting the rug on, do the buckles up from the back to the front. Taking it off, undo the buckles from the front to the back. This way if your horse was to get a fright and run/spook the rug comes off their body easily without tangling around their neck which could trip them up or cause injury.
Stay warm out there everyone ❤️❄️🐎
