Why we use SCENAR therapy.

At Grives Equine Rehabilitation, every horse follows an individual rehabilitation program tailored to its injury, stage of healing and long-term goals.

One therapy we regularly incorporate throughout rehabilitation is SCENAR (Self-Controlled Energo Neuro Adaptive Regulation).

SCENAR is a non-invasive therapy that delivers gentle electrical impulses through the skin, interacting with the body’s sensory nervous system. The nervous system plays an important role in movement, muscle function and the body’s response to injury, making it an important consideration during rehabilitation.

As part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program, SCENAR may help support:

• Comfort throughout rehabilitation
• Healthy movement and mobility
• Muscle relaxation and flexibility
• Circulation and tissue recovery
• Nervous system regulation
• Overall wellbeing during recovery

SCENAR is never used as a stand-alone treatment. It forms one part of a structured rehabilitation program alongside controlled exercise, treadmill conditioning and other evidence-informed therapies.

Every horse is different, which is why every rehabilitation plan is tailored to the individual. Our goal is simple: to give each horse the best opportunity for a safe, confident and successful return to work.

Fitness is only part of the equation. Soundness comes first. 🐎

A successful preparation isn’t about how quickly a horse can get fit.

It’s about giving bones, tendons, ligaments, muscles and the cardiovascular system time to adapt to increasing workloads.

That’s why pre-training is so important.

Every controlled canter, every hill, every treadmill session and every recovery day has a purpose.. to build a stronger, more resilient athlete before they return to the trainer.

Our goal isn’t simply to send horses back fit.

Our goal is to send them back sound, strong, conditioned and ready to cope with the demands of race training.

Because the miles you put in before training often determine how well a horse handles the miles during training.

Proud to be assisting the Hong Kong Jockey Club with the rehabilitation of one of their talented thoroughbreds. 🐎

Following a recent ultrasound examination, we were delighted to receive encouraging findings, including no residual tendon lesion identified, normal fibre pattern alignment and tendon measurements within normal limits.

As a result of these positive findings, he has now successfully completed Stage 1 of his rehabilitation program and progressed into Stage 2, with controlled trot work now underway.

While there is still work ahead, this represents an important milestone in his recovery and a testament to the value of patience, consistency and a structured rehabilitation approach.

The long-term goal is to have this talented horse return to racing in Australia once his rehabilitation is complete.

Recovery meets performance.
