The hardest part of loving our pets is knowing we never get quite enough time with them. 🌈

Yesterday we said goodbye to our beautiful Lola 💚

Many of you may remember Lola over the years. She was the puppy who started my love of poodles — smart, cheeky and absolutely full of personality.

Lola was also a huge part of my grooming journey. When I first started learning to groom, she was my practice dog. We learnt together, eventually going from those early practice grooms to winning first place and Best in Group. 🥇🏆

She taught me so much and was there through so many different chapters of my life. She was much more than a dog I groomed — she was my girl.

Rest easy, beautiful Lola.
You’ll always be such a special part of my story. 🩷🌈🐾

Please note, we’ll be taking a short break from grooming this week while we take some time as a family.

💛 R U OK? Day 💛

Today is a reminder that there is often so much happening behind the scenes that we simply don’t see.

And that includes behind the doors of small businesses.

The person answering your messages, making appointments, caring for your dog and running the business may also be managing injuries, stress, mental health, family pressures, exhaustion or circumstances they’ve chosen to keep private.

Sometimes a small business has to make difficult decisions.

They may need to say no.
They may need to set a boundary.
They may need to reduce their workload.
They may decide that a particular service, situation or client is no longer the right fit.

And you may never know the full reason why.

It’s easy to judge a decision when we only see it from the outside. But sometimes saying “I can’t do this anymore” is exactly what someone needs to do to look after themselves.

Nobody should have to share their personal struggles, medical history or mental health just to have their boundaries respected.

So today, perhaps we can all remember to give each other a little more grace. 💛

Before leaving the negative comment, telling someone else about the “bad experience”, or assuming the worst of someone’s decision — remember there is a human being on the other side.

You never truly know what somebody else is carrying.

Ask R U OK?
Listen.
Be kind.
And remember that kindness extends to the people behind our local small businesses too. 💛🐾

❄️ Deshedding isn’t just for summer! 🐾

It’s easy to think your dog needs all that extra coat to keep warm through winter — but a healthy winter coat still needs regular maintenance. 🛁

During the cooler months, loose undercoat can build up and become trapped within the coat. Without regular grooming, this can lead to:

💙 Excess loose & compacted undercoat
🩷 Matting and tangles
💙 Reduced airflow through the coat
🩷 Extra shedding around the home
💙 A coat that becomes harder to properly clean and dry

And yes… even short coats! 👀🐾

Short-haired doesn’t necessarily mean low shedding. Many short-coated breeds can drop an incredible amount of coat and benefit from a professional deshed too. ✨

A professional deshed helps remove the loose, dead coat while leaving the healthy coat exactly where it belongs.

And with dogs spending more time indoors over winter, keeping on top of that shedding can make a pretty big difference to your floors, furniture…and clothes too. 😂

Regular deshedding isn’t about removing the coat your dog needs — it’s about helping their coat stay clean, comfortable and healthy all year round. 🐶✨

🐾 International Dog Day 🐾

Today is for all the dogs who have been part of our lives — the ones curled up beside us now, and the ones who have left their paw prints on our hearts forever. 🤍

This photo is an old favourite. Two beautiful faces we’ve since had to say goodbye to… and if you look closely, you’ll spot a tiny puppy Lola peeking out from her crate in the background. 🥹🐾

It’s funny how an ordinary photo can become so incredibly special with time.

Dogs are with us for such a small part of our lives, but somehow manage to become such a huge part of them. The adventures, the chaos, the cuddles, the routines and all those little everyday moments we don’t realise we’ll treasure quite so much one day.

So today we’re celebrating all of them — those still walking beside us and those we carry with us. 🩷💙
