An email is greatly appreciated, before Mallaty Creek is fenced off forever.

🪦After 3 koalas killed last week at Mallaty Creek on Appin Road, and 9 in the last 13 months since we handed our petition of over 1200 signatures to save the 116ha Mallaty Creek koala corridor to Penny Sharpe MLC and Paul Scully MP we are asking for people concerned about inaction to please write to:

âž¡ [email protected]
âž¡ [email protected]

and tell the Ministers that outdated and slow to implement measures are failing Koalas and we need more action by saving and restoring Mallaty Creek to koalas and adding an underpass at Appin Road here to directly link Koalas to the Nepean River to the Georges River National Park.

🌳 Mallaty Creek is:
1. The most direct Koala corridor from the Georges River to the Nepean River, recognised by the NSW Chief Scientist as suitable for Koala movement.
2. Mapped by the NSW Government as a Biodiversity Corridor of Regional Significance
3. Feeds directly into the new Georges River Koala National Park and then on to the Dharawal National Park
4. Is mapped as habitat critical to the survival of Koalas.
5. Is the ONLY East-West Koala corridor where the upper water canal goes underground providing direct access to the Nepean.

We’ve lost 3 koalas to road strikes in the Mallaty Creek corridor along Appin Road just this week, including a mum and her joey last night. 💔💔💔

This post from Sydney Basin Koala Network outlines the critical importance of the Mallaty Creek corridor and why it needs to be protected.
