Anything for animals 💕🫶🏼

Caring for our two legged AND four legged community? 🐶

Shout out to our legendary Occupational Therapist, Lee, who found this beautiful Labrador on the way to her first client for the day in Aldinga!

She spun round, pulled over, picked him up...
..and because there was no way to know who the owner was, this very good boy waited patiently while Lee completed her home visit 🏡 🐕

Lee then took him to the Aldinga Vet who found a microchip number and reunited him with his owners 💙

Two bits of irony here:

Firstly, this boy is a trainee guide dog through RSB

Secondly, anyone that knows Lee would just have to agree that there could be no one better from our team to find this boy

She loves animals so much, to the point that she runs a side hustle Your Pet Whisperer... and even recommended us rebranding to SA Homecare Pawpapies, making new logos with ChatGPT and all 🤣

Lee, you really are our pet whisperer 🙏

Dogs can struggle in hot summer weather because they don’t cool themselves the same way humans do!🐶

Instead of sweating over their bodies, dogs mainly rely on panting and a small amount of sweating through their paw pads 🐾 which is far less efficient.

This means their body temperature can rise quickly, especially on the boiling hot days we’ve been having lately!! 🌞

Thick coated and brachycephalic (flat faced) breeds, puppies, senior dogs and overweight dogs are at higher risk of overheating and heatstroke. 🥵

Even short periods of exercise in high temperatures, lack of shade or water, or being left in poorly ventilated spaces can be very dangerous. ☀️

Signs of overheating include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting and confusion. Providing cool environments, fresh water, and appropriate summer activities is essential for keeping dogs safe and comfortable.⛱️🧊💧

Keep your fur babies cool, happy and safe this Summer! 🫶🏼

🩷 Bella May & Bailey Chase 🩵

Meet Bella May and Bailey Chase! Two adorable, energetic Maltese Shih-tzu pooches bursting with classic small dog confidence. They may be little, but their personalities are mighty 💪🏽 always alert, barking, and fiercely committed to their self-appointed role as protectors of all things home and heart 💓 🐾

They know exactly what they want (chicken… and more barking😆), but what if we could gently shift that big energy into something just as exciting? With a little creativity, their reactions can be redirected toward things they also adore - creamy yoghurt, a lick of peanut butter, or maybe even some new chew treats to try! By channeling their enthusiasm into positive rewards and engaging moments, Bella May and Bailey Chase can trade some of that barking bravado for focus, fun, and tail-wagging joy, all without dimming their spirited charm. 🐶✨

Under sunny skies on Christmas Day,
Our pets all join the fun and play.💗

Parrots chatter from their perch,
Laughing loud from dawn till dusk.🦜🎶

Dogs sprawl out where the cool shade lies,
Tongues hang low, tails wagging wide.🐶💜

Cats find boxes, nap with flair,
Claiming wrapping everywhere.🐱💚

Guinea pigs squeak with veggie delight,
Crunching carrots morning to night.🐹🥕

With barbie smells and summer cheer,
Our furry friends make Christmas dear. 🥳 👏🏽

No snow in sight, just love and laughs,
Paws, claws, wings, and whiskered chaps.☺️💞

An Aussie Christmas, warm and true,
Is best when shared with pets like you!!💖

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas with all your human and non-human loved ones! 🎄🎅🏻 🎁

Love Lee,
Your Pet Whisperer 💜
