THREAT REDUCED – Port Adelaide
Time issued: 6:46pm, Thursday 6 August 2026

The emergency evacuation message for the Port Adelaide area is no longer in effect, however an Advice message remains in place while emergency services continue to monitor conditions and assess the site overnight.

While conditions have improved considerably, people in the immediate area should continue to stay informed and exercise caution, particularly if they have existing respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.

Burning sulphur can produce irritating fumes that may affect the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory system. Although smoke impacts have reduced, people who experience symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, eye irritation or headaches should seek medical advice. Anyone experiencing severe breathing difficulties, significant eye irritation or other serious symptoms should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

As a precaution, residents near the incident are encouraged to:
• Keep doors and windows closed if they notice any residual odour or smoke.
• Use air conditioning on recirculate mode where available.
• Bring pets inside if smoke or odours are detected.
• Monitor family members, particularly young children, older people and those with existing health conditions.
• Avoid the immediate area around the incident and follow any directions from emergency services personnel.

For more information about the incident, phone the Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 (press option 1, then 0).

For updates, monitor the Alert SA app, CFS website, MFS website, and ABC Radio.

Do you know someone who can help?

🚿 $27,000 RAISED… AND WE’RE ONLY JUST GETTING STARTED! 💙

We honestly can’t believe how quickly our community has rallied behind this project.

In just a few days, you’ve helped us raise $27,000 towards bringing a mobile shower truck back to South Australia. Every donation, every share and every conversation is bringing us closer.

We’ve now received our first quote for the truck itself…

Even at cost price, the truck alone is more than $60,000.

That’s before we even begin the fit-out with showers, plumbing, electrical, water systems and everything needed to get it on the road.

The amazing news is that businesses are already stepping forward to donate their time, skills and materials. This is becoming a project built by the South Australian community, for the South Australian community.

🚨 We still urgently need:

☀️ Solar supply and installation
⚡ Generator
🛡️ Awning
🔨 Metal fabrication for storage boxes and access stairs
🚚 A suitable second-hand truck to build the shower truck on.

Do you own a business, or do you know someone who does, that could help?

Here’s how you can make a difference today:

💙 Donate: https://showertruckforsa.raiselysite.com
💙 Share this post.
💙 Tag someone in the solar, transport, trucking, fabrication, generator or awning industries.
💙 Know of a suitable second-hand truck that could be donated or sold at a heavily reduced price? Please get in touch.

This isn’t just about building a truck.

It’s about restoring dignity, hope and connection for people experiencing homelessness across South Australia.

Let’s keep this incredible momentum going. Together, we’re building something that will change lives. 🚿💙

Vincent Van Cat is looking for a home of his own
🐱Rehome🐱

This is an incredibly hard post for me to write, but I need to find the right home for Vincent.

Vincent was born on 12 July 2022, and I adopted him as an eight-week-old kitten in September that year. All of his vet work is complete. He is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Vincent has always been a strange little man. It took a fair bit of convincing before he decided he loved me, but once he did, he became incredibly special to me. He is hilarious, full of personality, sits like a drunk man and makes the most ridiculous dolphin noises at birds.

Unfortunately, Vincent has also always struggled with other cats. He can tolerate them at times, but at other times he actively hunts them, chases them and pulls out their fur. Over the past two years I have built a cat run, changed the environment and tried every management option I could think of. Despite that, the situation has continued to escalate and is now causing significant stress, behavioural problems and health issues for the other cats.

This is not fair on them, and it is not fair on Vincent either. He is clearly not happy sharing his home with other cats and deserves the chance to live somewhere he can relax without constantly feeling the need to monitor or control them.

Vincent needs to be the only cat in his new home.

With people, he is a completely different creature. He loves showing off to visitors, climbing onto shoulders and playing with older children. He is affectionate, but very much on his own terms, and he will let you know when he is no longer interested in your attention. For that reason, I would not place him with young children. He can bite when his boundaries are ignored or when he is simply not in the mood for your bu****it.

He especially loves men, and men with beards are apparently the highest form of human. He also enjoys sunny windows, licking people with the roughest tongue imaginable and attempting to steal food directly from your plate.
