European Taxidermy Championships ETC

For over 25 years, the ETC have been among the most prestigious competitions worldwide.

Preparators from many countries showcase their skills, learn from each other, and exchange ideas with experts. The European Taxidermy Championships® are being held every 3 years and will be moving to another European country every time, if possible. It is a competition open to taxidermists of all experiences and is being held on the highest possible level. Next to the competition it is a moment to gather and meet colleagues, learn new techniques in exciting seminars and stay motivated within our beautiful profession.

ETC 2025 Winner, Reptiles and Amphibians. 🦎

Jan Panniger took the title with a Frilled-neck Lizard. A category that rewards precision and a deep understanding of some of the most technically demanding animals to work with.

ETC 2027 is going to be bigger than ever. 👀

We are not ready to share everything yet, but what we can tell you is that we will be taking over Hall 4 and parts of Hall 3 and 5 at the Messezentrum Salzburg. More space, more room for entries, seminar rooms, a dedicated network area, exhibitor stands and a whole landscape of taxidermy animals to set the scene.

More details coming closer to the competition. Stay tuned.

We have lowered our prices! 🎟️
The Competitor Show Pass is now €100 instead of €180, Family and Visitor passes are down to €40, and there is no administration fee this year. Every ticket also includes entry to the Hohe Jagd & Fischerei trade fair.

The ETC is a meeting place, a source of inspiration and a stage for taxidermy at the highest level. Registering early is simple. No entry details required at this stage, just tell us you are coming and roughly how many pieces to expect from you. That alone helps us plan the space and secures your discount.

Let us walk you through the ETC ribbon system. 🔵🔴🟡
Small ribbons are awarded in all divisions and reflect the quality of your work. Blue means 90 to 100 points, red means 80 to 89, yellow means 70 to 79. They do not indicate a ranking or placement, just the standard of your work.
Medium ribbons go to the top placements in the Novice, Professional and Collective Artists divisions. First, second and third. Respected and earned, but they do not carry a European title.
Large ribbons are reserved for the Master Division only. A blue large ribbon means Best of Europe. European Champion. That title has a very specific meaning at the ETC and the ribbon system exists to protect it.
Ribbons in other colors are given for special awards and are independent of the official ETC rules.

The ETC 2027 Competition Rules have been updated. If you are planning to compete, now is a good time to read through them carefully. Some things have changed and knowing the rules before you register makes everything smoother once you are in Salzburg.

Find out more about the ETC Species Lists. These are mandatory for all bird, mammal and gamehead categories in the Professional and Master Division and determine which sub-category your mount competes in. Large, medium or small. That decision has real consequences for how your piece is judged.
You can find them on our website and we have linked them in our stories for easy access. 📋

At this year's Die Hohe Jagd & Fischerei, you could get a small taste of what's coming in February at the European Taxidermy Championships 2027. 🐻

At the booth, visitors could find out everything about the upcoming championship, learn how the judging and scoring system works, and get any questions answered directly. A great opportunity to make contacts with judges and fellow taxidermists.
