2025 flew by in a blink with all those good and bad moments. It was a real emotional rollercoaster. May 2026 be a better year for our community animals, rescuers, and the whole world šŸŒŽ

We rescuers all have sad stories to tell about our cats—stories that could make a whole room cry. Rescuing is a big emotional challenge. No matter how many times you remind yourself not to get attached to your rescues, your heart never listens. Our hearts break every day.

But there are some unexpected funny moments too, right? Maybe they weren’t funny at the time, but looking back, you just can’t help but laugh. Whether it’s a cat escaping the trap, a trap not closing on time, or a heartwarming surprise—there is definitely a lighthearted side to rescuing cats.

We at Cat Folks would love to hear your funny rescue stories. I’m collecting these stories with the hope of publishing them someday. Maybe this can help bring our big rescuer community even closer and raise a bit more awareness about what we do. Please use the link to share your stories. We’d appreciate it, and you can stay anonymous if you wish.
Please share the link with your network. We would love to hear from as many rescuers as possible.

I've been rescuing cats in Dubai for more than 10 years. I've seen so many horrible things, but nothing disgusts me more than people who don’t spay their female cats ā€œbecause it’s natureā€ and then dump them when they get pregnant.

This is what I found last night during my feeding tour in our community. In a place where there’s an active TNR group ready to help, where people pay 300k rent but can’t be bothered to get their cat spayed. This cat was dumped in this heat with all her stuff. This is beyond irresponsible, it’s just cruel.

I named her Shirin because she’s the sweetest. This is why TNR matters. She can’t protect herself from getting pregnant, and if you can’t take responsibility for your pregnant cat, then you shouldn’t be making decisions about her life. No, she doesn’t enjoy being left out in 50-degree heat, pregnant and forced to give birth and fend for herself.

Do TNR. Save lives

Almost a month ago, my senior cat Ginger (14 years old) was diagnosed with FIP. If you’ve ever dealt with FIP, you know how tough and expensive it can be-one vet even charged me 7,000 AED just for the diagnosis. I felt so lost.

But not all vets are in it for the business. I’ve known Dr. Teena at Vets Fur Pet Clinic for 2years, and she has always been there for us supporting our TNR program. Without her help and her fantastim team's support, our TNR work simply wouldn’t be possible.

When I took Ginger to Dr. Teena, she truly went above and beyond. She understood that Ginger gets extremely stressed at the clinic, so she helped me manage his treatment at home, making it as easy and comfortable as possible for him. And the cost? Just a fraction of what others were charging.

Thank you for always being there for us and for all the community cats too. šŸ’›

If you’re ever feeling hopeless, remember-there are good people out there who care.

Another cruel pest control story. A mama cat and her four kittens were removed from their area by pest control due to a resident's complaint. Rescuers located where the kittens were released, but the mother is gone. They were released in a massive labor accommodation area. We searched for two nights but had no luck. We won't give up on the mother and will go back to search for her, but her kittens need urgent help. Foster or forever homes are needed. Please help and share!

This is my hand today-courtesy of one of our 11 cats (he’s not a fan of sharing space). Having a multi cat house, we’ve had to get creative and run a rotating schedule so everyone feels safe. It’s not always easy, but every cat is different, just like people. Some need extra patience. Some just want their own corner. Please don’t give up on them just because they don’t fit in right away. Be kind, be tolerant, and remember: every cat deserves a home. šŸ¾šŸ’› Alex biites hard, but we love him harder 🐱

Ps. He is an orange cat with one brain cell, which only works on odd days. Yesterday was Monday 😸

Not every rescue story here is about cats! 🐾 Today, we found this little bird being attacked by other birds - stepping in was a no-brainer. Now he’s safe, but the real challenge begins: how do you keep a bird safe in a house with 11 cats? šŸ˜…

For now, he’s got his own room, lots of peace and quiet, and absolutely no feline visitors allowed. The cats are curious, but they’ll have to admire him from afar. One day at a time-feathers and fur, everyone deserves a second chance. šŸ¦ā¤ļøšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜øšŸ˜ø

Ginger, our 14-year-old warrior fighting FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). 🧔 FIP is rare and tough, especially for senior cats. The journey is stressful, expensive, and full of ups and downs—from endless vet visits to costly meds. But we’re holding onto hope and giving Ginger all the love he deserves.

If your cat or your rescue is facing FIP, don’t lose hope. Reach out to the rescuer community—FIP shouldn’t mean goodbye just because of costs. There’s help and support out there. 🐾

When you wake up to a message from your dad in another country, and it’s a photo of the pregnant stray who adoptedĀ themĀ giving birth to FOUR kittens last night… 🄹🐾✨ My heart can’t handle the cuteness!

Looks like it runs in our family. šŸ±šŸ’•
