**Slip leash or harness — which one is more humane? 🐕**

It’s not simply about the tool. It’s about how you use it.

The right training approach should focus on clear communication, appropriate pressure and release, and above all, the safety of your dog and everyone around them.

Especially with reactive dogs, choosing and using the right equipment responsibly can make a big difference.

What’s your experience — **slip leash or harness?**

Sometimes, saying “NO” can accidentally become a reward.

Your dog may not understand what “no” actually means. Instead, they may simply learn that certain behaviours get your attention even if that attention is you saying “Oh no,” “Come on,” or “Again?”

For dogs, attention itself can be reinforcing. So be mindful of what you’re rewarding with your words, reactions, and body language.

Clear communication and consistent training make all the difference. 🐾

Does your dog bark at everything? 🐶🔊

Instead of constantly saying “NO” or “STOP,” teach your dog what you actually want them to do.

Clear commands + consistent guidance + a trained “place” command can help your dog understand how to behave when distractions appear.

When your dog knows exactly what to do, barking becomes easier to manage. 🐾

Remember: **Don’t just correct the unwanted behavior — teach the right behavior.**

Practice consistently and build better communication with your dog. ❤️

The way you use the leash can make all the difference. 🐕‍🦺

With a reward-based approach and clear communication, your dog learns that **following you and staying calm is more rewarding**. Instead of constantly saying “no,” focus on reinforcing the behavior you actually want.

Stay calm, let your dog settle, then start walking. If they get too excited, **reset, regroup, and try again**. Remember, your energy matters—because your dog will follow your lead. 🐾

Reactivity often starts when your dog decides how to respond to everything around them — dogs, motorcycles, people, or distractions.

The goal is to teach your dog to look to you, listen to you, and follow your direction instead of making the decision on their own.

With Baxter, we’re working on lowering his excitement levels, improving his obedience, and gradually increasing the right exposure around other dogs.

Less reacting. More listening. Better behaviour. 🐾

Your dog doesn’t automatically feel comfortable in the water. 🐶💦

Introducing your dog to a pool should be calm, gradual, and positive. Give them time to understand the environment, show them where the exit is, and slowly build their confidence in the water. Never rush or force them into the pool.

A confident first experience can make all the difference when teaching your dog to swim. 🐾❤️
