We have had Huskies for over 30 years. In total we have had 7 dogs we were lucky to have long lived dogs all lived to over 10 years bar one . We bread twice 4 pups each time . Both times we took back one pup. We rehomed one of those pups who went on to have a great life as part of a racing team and family pet. One of our own breeding had a cancer and it broke me when she was put out of her misery. We had 4 dogs and lost the Granny , her daughter the pup in the space of a year loosing the mum and pup months apart. We were left with one. She had never been on her own and had always had other dog companions and took it really hard loosing her mum and sister so close together. At that point we thought of a rescue but in the end went for another Husky pup.
Ok that is the background to what is coming next. Our girl is 10 this year and i hope she gets to 17 or above like her Granny and mum but you never know what can happen so as the pup we got is now 2.5 we have decided to adopt a husky of around the same age. I know there are many in need in this country but we have opted to resue from Dubai. There are many huskies needing rescued from there. Imaging a husky in 40 to 50 deg centigrade heat in their summer and hotter than our best summers ( in Scotland)in their winter! The dogs would need boots on coz the pavements and sand on the beaches are so hot.
Anyway we have started the adoption process with The Stray Dog Centre Dubai. They pay all the costs of transferring huskies to colder climates. You pay £220 approx to cover the vacinations. Everything is arrannged for you.
We are fortunate that we are going over for a short holiday and are going to meet with a few of the dogs before we decide which will fit in best with the two we have. We head out at the end of Feb.
I will be updating this post as we proceed through the process so if anyone is interested in more info or would like to rescuue a husky from the heat of Dubai get in touch with me or directly with the center
You can also help by sponsoring dogs at the shelter, dogs in boarding ,food and medical care. My heart would love to adopt more but space prevents that. Most of the huskies i have seen on the web page have been young less than 4 years old, good with people and dogs. If anyone is serious about adopting a dog get intouch before the end of feb I MIGHT be able to arrange to meet the dog and get video and report back.
Here is the link for the centre if you want to check it out.
I have been speaking with one of the ladies by whatsapp and a Zoom call. They have a prestigious sponsor for the Husky relocation so it is no scam. Anyway will keep posting how it goes.
We're on a mission to relocate our rescued huskies to colder countries. All transport fees are covered! Help us find good homes for them!
