𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐝-𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧

African red eyed tetras are found in the river streams of Ogun and lower Niger river delta in Nigeria. They are also known as Niger tetra. Their main attraction is the huge scales. The required tank size is of 30 gallons and they are omnivorous in their diet. Since they are peaceful in nature, they go well with community tanks. The life span of Niger tetra is 7 years and will grow maximum of 8 CM.

𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐂𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐝

African Peacock cichlid are the native of Lake Malawi in East Africa. They can grow maximum up to 6 inch in size and have a life expectancy of 6 to 8 years. They are Omnivorous in their diet and would prefer to be on a 55 gallon aquarium. They are semi aggressive in nature.

These species are ideal for community tanks and they are very peaceful, usually well kept in groups. They are native of Sangha river of Congo. They have a life span of 3 to 5 years and are omnivorous in nature. The minimum tank size should be 20 gallons and prefer to be in well planted tank with open swim space.

The Glass cat fish is a calm natured omnivorous. They are good for community tanks and will go good with tetras, barb and gourami. They prefer to be on a planted tank to seek cover when disturbed. Their diet includes flakes or pellets and proteins source such us blood worms, brine shrimps and daphnia can be added few times a weeks. Overeating and under eating can both leads to health issues. They will grow up to 15 centimeters and have a life span of 8 years.

Unlike other cichlids the African butterfly cichlid is a peaceful fish among this species. The fish is sociable up to a certain limit and it is best to be maintained in small groups preferable with equal number of males and females. They are omnivorous in nature and diet includes cichlid pellets, live foods and frozen foods. They have a life span of 5 years.

They are commonly know as 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚. These tetras prefer planted aquariums with a minimum of 170 liter (45 gallons) water capacity. Like many other tetras they would like to be in a group of 6 or more. Since they are omnivorous in nature their diet includes pellets, flakes and live foods.

They are also know as Lionhead cichlid or Buffalo head. African Blockhead Cichlid are native to Pool Malebo and Congo river. It will grow up to 10 cm and prefers a minimum of 70 liter tank. The food includes dried pellets, flakes, blood worms and brine shrimps.

𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧

This is a shoaling fish and prefers densely planted tank with some open swim space. They are best in acidic water. Adonis Characins have a translucent body and having some barring on the caudal fin. They are omnivorous in nature and feed pellets, flakes and live foods. They are native of Africa.

𝐀𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛

This is a peaceful active mid swimming shoaling fish. They are native of Africa. Ablabes Barb prefers plenty of swimming space combined with drift woods and small plants. The minimum required size of the tank should be of 76 litres(20 Gallons). They are omnivorous and eat pellets, flakes and live food.

It is one of the largest fresh water fish. They generally grows up to 6 ft. They are carnivorous and are not recommended for home aquariums. They eat small fishes, small mammals, turtles and carrions.
